In Response to Re: WHAT'S FOR DINNER TONIGHT?:
Tonight for me is a soup. A dear friend gave me the most wonderful Christmas present. Soup in a jar. So that is what I am making. The jar is so pretty layered with all the ingredients. There are Garbanzo beans, lentils, Red Kidney Beans, White Navy Beans,Dried onions, spices to that you add broth, canned tomatoes and cook for 2 hours on the stove or slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours. I will have to get the recipe from her as it looks and smells so good.

Hi Nikki,I made up several quart jars with soup, beer bread and chili mix for gifts for the family and it was a big hit.I used soup base in mine and all that was needed were the canned tomatoes, frozen vegetables or meat if desired.I think these soup mixes would be great made ahead of time and just stored in baggies, for a night when you don't feel like cooking much or to take on camping trips.
