I love...love the fried chicken livers.  not many places near me have them.
When I was telling my sister about my this guy I met she said we were meant to be together because we both liked chicken livers. That was 30 plus years ago and she might have been on to something....

I was going to do an Asian inspired dinner but my sister invited me to a breakfast today and I will go up closer to lunch. (fund raiser for a group she is involved with) So I do not anticipate being real hungry at later so I will probably make soup and sandwiches for dinner.

Nikki - Boy, did you bring back memories.  I grew up having this meal every so often and was pleasantly surprised when my new husband liked this meal (at that time in my life it was one meal that I didn't mess up!).  You made me so hungry for this that I ran out and got the "makings" for this for our dinner tonight.

I was going to have roast pork tonight but I guess it was in the fridge too long.  Had turkey again but with rice this time.  Oh well, will have to keep a closer eye on what's in the fridge from now on.

Tonight I made chicken parmesan.  Would've tasted better if I actually got to eat it hot.  Oh well, maybe next time.

May I ask -- what happened that you could not eat it hot?  Hope all is now OK.
I had luscious, delicious, great BBQ pork steak, baked potato and lots and lots of TOMATO

Love this meal and I always add peas into the white sauce.  It was one way to get the kids to eat the green veggie.  You brought back a great memory from so many years ago.

mikki g...thanks for the reminder about S..O..S.  Have not made that in a long time.  I do recall that using the dried chipped beef resulted in a dinner that would wake me several times during the night to get a glass of water.  Then for every glass of water ya gotta get up to "get rid of the glass of water".  I will have to make this but will get some "real" beef to make it with.  And Bakery is right ya have to mix the peas in with the white sauce.

I also recall a dish my Grandma used to do that I loved so much, "Finnan Haddie", smoked haddock and she made it in milk that was then turned into a white sauce.  Again lots of salt but oh so good.  I don't think I have seen smoked haddock in a very long time.  I bet she got the "recipe" because of my Grandpa, he was from Scotland.
