Hurrah for left-overs!  We're having the left over chicken pot pie.  I made the pie yesterday and it was huge.  It was so good, we ended up eating a whole half of it last night and will finish it off tonight with a side salad.

Feeling guiilty that I haven't been baking but that should soon pass, as I want to get started with Christmas baking this weekend.

My dinner tonight will have to be an easy one ......... I'm off to the podiatrist so he can check what he did to my feet and then I head to church to work on sorting a  lot of stuff and decorating the whole place for Christmas.

Nancy - One of my favorite activities during the Christmas season is helping to decorate the church.  I hope you have some helpers with you today.

Thanks Cheri ..... yes, there will be a helper - me!!  I'm a helper that goes and lifts and does what she's told.      And today the lady in charge and I are going before school lets out for the day so we can snag some teen boys to help us carry stuff.
On my way home from the doctor I went to Michaels and got some super garland - then to Lowe's to get two pair of super strength wire cutters .... LOL
I think I'll stop by Jack in the Box  tonight for dinner..... I love their egg rolls.

Nancy, do you ever stand still girl?  I feel old just reading your activity schedule!  I did help out one year with decorating the church - a very large one at that.  I haven't signed up since, but do keep active in other areas of service.

Thank you Bakery ..... my church is a tiny one - too tiny for lots of our activities.  Now we do have the huge new building for school, social events - things like that.   I happily do the janitor work in the upstairs of the old building but just paint in the new .... and try hard to keep the upstairs storage area somewhat straight.
And today I met with the lady in charge of  decorations but we could not do the work -- the kids were using that area for music practice.  So we just dug out what stuff we could and headed back home ..... we'll try again tomorrow afternoon.
So I'm stuck here at home for dinner
.

Nancy my head also spins when I read all of your activities.  And you add baking to that mix. (no pun intended)

I had a huge salad tonight.
Due to the "tummy bug" going through the Adult Day Care/ residential place I take my husband to he was sick then I was for a bit.  But the good news is I lost a few pounds!  Not the way I want to do it but who can argue with success.
Any way want to keep the weight off until after I recover from surgery. (fat chance on that!...pun intended)
I cooked up 4 batches of chili and a huge batch of soup.  Now all stored in the freezer.  I have the fixings for a Ratatoullie for tomorrow and stuffed peppers for Sunday.  Planning on stuffed pork chops for Saturday.

Last night I used the frozen chicken nuggets in my salad (well, I DID cook them first) and they weren't very good.  I have lots more great greens and grapes and stuff so today I'll buy some good chicken to have another salad.

I have decided to add some polenta to be served with the Rattatoullie that I am making tonight. I usually make couscous to absorb the juices but I think polenta would taste very good.

I think we'll just have a simple dinner of brats, noodles, green beans and a spinach salad.  We're getting warmer weather this weekend so hopefully we can get out and hang our Christmas lights and since this dinner is one of my husband's favorites I hope this will warm him up to the idea of decorating outside this weekend.

This has been a very rainy day, so I figured it was a good day to use the crock pot!  I threw in some potatoes, onion, a little garlic, one carrot ( just for flavor as my husband does not like cooked carrots).  Then I browned some beef stew meat and added a small carton of mushrooms to the mix.  Topped it off with 1 cup of water, 1 cup of red wine, salt, pepper, dried thyme, a pinch of cloves, and some "W" sauce.  Later just before eating I will thicken the " gravy" and throw in some frozen peas.  There is a lot there, so it will last for a couple of meals.

And I could do an entire 2 or 3 pounds of carrots in a meal like that and I would be very happy just eating the carrots, a little gravy and a bit of horseradish to add some spice.  I'd never know the meat is not on the plate.  I love carrots.

By the way the polenta was great with the Rattoullie.
Tonight is stuffed pork loin
Steamed green beans finished with a bit of bacon
Baby red potatoes steamed then browned in a little bit of the bacon fat.
Our friend that has helped me do much of the planting around the house will aid in some furrniture moving this evening.  With luck I will have everything done for the holidays before my surgery.
