I'm thinking of making turkey burgers tonight, along with a salad with strawberries.  Our local grocery stores have been the best sale on strawberries, and I cuold make a meal of just them, but I should save some for our Easter meal.

One of those days where I have no clue what to make for dinner lol.  Maybe I'll just have a bowl of cereal with dried fruit.

Dinner tonight will be one of my twice monthly homemade Chinese food nights. Egg Foo Yung, fried rice that I don't really fry but tastes like it (I don't fry anything anymore), chop suey with crispy noodles. I'm still trying to find the perfect sauce for the egg foo yung. Does anyone know of one?

I'm a newbie and I'm looking forward to sharing recipes and chatter with you all. I just got back from the grocery store and for dinner tonight, I will bake the fresh Halibut that was on sale. I talked to the nice old man that sold it to me, about how he cooked it and he told me to wrap it in foil and bake it. I think he is right. I also found a real yam, not a sweet potato, and really look forward to trying that. I also grabbed a few beautiful brussell sprouts that I will saute in some butter.  I wish I could eat like that all the time-how healthy I would be.Innocent Cher

Bella, it looks like I'm following you reading the different posts! I was wondering about finding a real yam and not a sweet potato. All I've ever seen here are yams and not the words "sweet potato" and what is the difference?

Hi Vicki,

Yams

The true yam is the tuber of a tropical vine (Dioscorea batatas) and is not even distantly related to the sweet potato.

Slowly becoming more common in US markets, the yam is a popular vegetable in Latin American and Caribbean markets, with over 150 varieties available worldwide.

This isn't the same article I read a few months ago but close enough. I guess yams are not as common as we think. Pretty interesting. I forgot to comment on where I found the yam. I was at Hy-Vee, a grocery store here in the midwest, and was surprised to see it. It was organic, which I don't ususally care about and it was expensive but I couldn't pass it up. I let you know how good or otherwise it was. Wink

Thanks Bella for the yam article. I'm not sure which I'm eating but they're yummy! I think it's a sweet potato.

Ann-your hubby is diabetic isn't he? I wondered if anyone else had diabetes on here. I've had it for 20 years and have gotten off all medication for about the last 6 months. How was by taking cinnamon. I take this daily before meals and my sugars are now fine. How is your hubby doing with his diabetes? Type 1? I'm type 2.
