Nancy - Now that is my type of dinner!  I hope you enjoyed it.  When my husband has to travel for his job one of my favorite "meals" is popcorn and hot cocoa.

Nancy you just made me laugh out loud!  Boy, we would get along really well.  I haven't had the York Chocolate and Pepperming syrup yet, how could I have missed that?

We're having a one day heat wave here today so tonight we're having a tuna macaroni salad for dinner.  Ice cream is definitely on the menu for dessert in honor of Nancy!

Cheri -- That super York syrup is brand new in my local grocery and it was just $1.00 for a small squirt bottle.  I think I'll buy another to keep "in stock".
Today is going to be a real scorcher here - the rest of the week is going to be HOT.  Tonight I'll BBQ to get a great meal without the heat in the house.

Oh - and that reminds me ....... a few evenings ago I was outside and my next door neighbor came out .... she said she was going to the movie theater to get popcorn for her dinner.  She said they made really great popcorn so she had that with a salad for her dinner.  I gave her a nice bag of cookies for her dessert.
A big bucket of popcorn for dinner sounds kinda' good --- good and easy.

I had a big salad.  Great mix of Kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and a small handful of dried cranberries and sunflower seeds.  I had a bit of Swiss cheese to go with it.  Strawberries for dessert a bit later while I am watching TV.
Put on a few pounds while on vacation and have to work at getting it off as well as a few other pounds that have been not so quietly creeping up on me.
I fondly say I want to loose 25 pounds, 10 for the few I just put on, 10 that I have been trying to get off and 5 pounds for a "fudge factor"...because I love fudge!!!

Tonight, soup and a salad for me.  My husband is going to Adult Care so he will have a huge lunch so it will be a sandwich and salad for him tonight. I think he gained more weight while I was gone than I did! I will have to talk to them there about portion control for him. I know they have to provide so much as far as calories go but when a person is over weight to begin with you would think that they would be a little more careful.

Nikki - We had the same problem with the site where my Mother-In-Law lived (she also had Alzheimers).  It was such a lovely home with only 12 residents, and they took suc h good care of everybody but there was an overabundance of food, especially baked goods.

I hope that you had a good time on your vacation.  I am hoping that you feel refreshed.

As for our dinner tonight, we are having pizza and I am not making it.  No cooking tonight.  Yea!

thanks to nancy and cheri
last night's "dinner" was chocolate cake and bluebell homemade vanilla

and I really enjoyed it

the last couple of weeks I've been in a lot of stores w/ no carts       trying to gather wound care products for my fragile skin
I find something at walmart (2 items)  a couple more at cvs     and a little at walgreens
and before you tell me to go to med supply,  I've been to 2   one had 2nd skin burn patches(which also can be used on cuts)  the other had  some small sheets of  hydrogel (8X8)  for $10.00 each they can be cut

if you don't need scooters ,etc  or uniforms  there's not much else there

That amazes me that there is not a site where these items can be found.  Although the problem with some of the "specialty" sites is they charge so much.
Is there a way your doctor can order supplies for you or if you go to the pharmacy maybe they can place an order for you.  You may have to wait a few days for the items to come in on a delivery but it might be worth it, especially if they do not charge extra for the order.

As to your "thanks" to Nancy and Cheri for your healthy dinner....it is always nice to blame someone else for over indulging.

The thing that gets me is most of the residents do not get much in the way of exercise and the starchy food that is given makes it easy to put on weight.  With anyone that has problems walking and with my husband still sort of recovering from a broken hip you would think that weigh loss would make mobility easier.  As well as for people that need help in and out of bed and wheel-chairs it would be easier for staff if the residents were at a healthy weight.
Ok I will get down off my soap box now.
