Tonight is the outdoor dinner and service of church.  We'll have a giant bonfire and sit outside to eat chili, little bbq sausages, roast marshmallows, etc.  I made my crock pot of chili yesterday.  And I made Nikki's great Pumpkin Pie Crunch.
Two weeks ago we had the noon-time meal for the bus kids, last week I took the dinner to that much loved family, two weeks from now we'll have the big Thanksgiving dinner.   Grumpy old me ... I'm a bit tired of carrying so much food around.

I baked a Key Lime Cream Cheese Pound Cake for my Birthday Monday.

Dear Maxine: I am new to this site but it looks similar to Facebook only better. Not so many "other" people you don't want to look at or read about.  Anyway, it's a little late but Happy Birthday.  I bought a Nestle's Recipe book in the supermarket ($5.00) and tried some of the recipes inside. I tried the cranberry nut pumpkin loaf. OMG to die for. I give them away for Christmas presents every year and take them to parties and get-togethers with the girls in our greeting card class. Everyone raves over that recipe. If you haven't tried it, you must if your family likes pumpkin (who doesn't like pumpkin)?   I am a 72 y/o grandmother and never get tired of trying new recipes. I love this site. Keep in touch and God Bless. Hugs Lois M.

After a busy day outside raking leaves and then jumping in them with my granddaughter and then raking them up again, we had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  What a fun day, wonderful memories!

DEAR CHERI, ENJOYED YOUR POST. REMINDED ME OF WHERE I USED TO LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. TOMATO SOUP AND GRILLED CHEESE SAND'S. OLD FAVORITE. I THINK IT IS TYPICALLY AMERICAN, DON'T YOU? WHAT STATE DO YOU LIVE IN?
I AM A 72 Y/O GRANDMOTHER WHO NEVER SEES HER GRANDS. I LIVE IN NO. FLORIDA NOW AND THEY LIVE IN SO. FLA. SO WE DON'T SEE EACH OTHER TOO OFTEN. THEIR PARENTS ARE DIVORCED, SO THEY "DON'T HAVE TIME" OR THE MONEY TO TRAVEL SIX HOURS TO SEE THEIR GRANDPARENTS. SAD, ISN'T IT. I SEE THEM ON FACEBOOK.  SO CHERI, ENJOY YOUR GRANDS NOW WHILE YOU CAN.
 GOD BLESS. HUGS LOIS M.

HI NANCY:  Church socials can be harrowing let me tell you. However, once all the food is cooked and delivered and the folks get together, it is worth all the questions, "who made the chilli, who made the pumpkin bread and who made the choc. chip cookies? The compliments are so nice and gives us such satisfaction. Not just at church gatherings but at parties and going to one of the "girls" houses for meetings, etc.
Enjoy it while you can. After this election, who knows if we will even have FREE internet anymore or even FREEDOM OF SPEECH for that matter. Sorry to sound gloomy but facts are facts. May God be with you and yours this Thanksgiving. Hugs Lois M.

Geez, Nancy, with all the things you do for everybody you have a right to be a bit grumpy now and then.
Maybe time to ease up a bit and take a well deserved break?

My husband requested chicken and mashed potatoes tonight.  I was in shock since he usually says "whatever"  lol.

Lois - Thank you for your post.  Yes, I do enjoy my granddaughter every day since she lives with us.  I am truly blessed.  I know the pain/disappointment living far from your grandchildren/grandparents.  I lived many hours from both sets of my grandparents and so I usually only saw them at holiday time, if then.  We live in Minnesota, so we have more than enough leaves to rake and play in.  When I was a little girl we would rake all of our leaves in to the street and the neighborhood would have a huge bonfire - great memories!  Now burning leaves is not allowed due to air pollution.  Are you able to Skype with your grandchildren?  That would be one way to stay in touch.  Gods blessings to you, too.

I've been working hard and tomorrow (Election Day!!) looks difficult too,   Today looks easy.   I wish my dear Kitchen Aid was still working or the one I ordered would arrive ........ I'd use an easy day to make cookies.

We surely do need to be in prayer about this election.

I would love to take myself out for dinner but after such a busy day yesterday and looking at a busy day tomorrow, I'm too lazy to get dressed and go somewhere.  I'm gonna' just veg right here in my ragged PJs.

We had chicken pot pies for dinner along with a spinach salad with toasted pecans and dried cherries.  That was one wonderful meal.

After finally getting electric back after Hurricane Sandy, we had tomato soup, grill cheese with bacon, veggies and chips.
Sooo happy to have family, home, hot shower & heat, we'll eat anything to keep us warm. LOL
Tomorrow will be a little fancier since we can use our oven.  Probably chicken cutlets, salad, scalloped potatoes w/onions and cake.  We all must enjoy what we use everyday because when it's gone, it's hard to be without it.

Welcome back Ann H and Ann S.  So glad to see you're both ok after that awful storm.  Still praying for all the folks affected by that storm.

Tonight we had leftover spaghetti and meatballs with fresh garlic bread.

We had pot roast for dinner tonight and it really hit the spot!  We thought we would have to stand in long a lot longer to vote, but we walked right in and voted right away.  As a result, we got to eat earlier than anticipated.  This was such a good dinner on a cool, rainy evening.
