Cheryl, let me know how it is.  I am planning on making the Rosemary Kissed Silk Pie.  It is pretty much the same recipe just the rosemary is omitted.

I am green with envy that you can get peaches that taste good enough to use as a topping on ice cream.  I find it so difficult to find good, juicy, sweet peach tasting peaches.  So often they are mealy, dry, tasteless orbs.  I have taught my Grandson when picking peaches in the store to smell them.  Usually if they smell like a peach they should taste like a peach.  Sometimes it works sometimes not.  Then I make the Peach Cake!  That recipe makes bad peaches taste great.

Nikki - I have  a sophisticated, educated method chosing peaches.  I buy ONE to take home and check.  Most of the time they aren't very good but if it is, I head back to the store for that display.  I buy a small bag to gobble at home .... Some of them go into the freezer.
Yesterday a small display was assembled in a parking lot near me......... good news!  That's there every year to sell fresh LOCAL peaches and then TOMATOES.

texas has some of the best peaches in the world-------freestones---------large  juicy  and  sweet!----we used to stop at the orchard and pick them-----when we went to my g.m.'s home to bring home to freeze and can and make preserves and jelly

now they have stands all the way down to houston at  their farm mkt stands set up at gas stations ------
and they are just now getting to market

but these peaches are never found at the supermarkets-------because the ones they have are picked too soon before they get that glorious aroma

if i want peaches otherwise i buy the frozen ones like i did last week for the muffins

The "smell test" works but there are times when they just are not great.
When I was a kid we had a house in Florida and every summer when school let out the family would pile into the car and drive from Connecticut to Florida.  My sister, Mom, Dad, Me and the dog.  No AC in the car and this was before most of the Interstate Highways were completed.  We would stop at roadside stands in Georgia and get peaches.  They were the most delectable things.  Juicy and fuzzy.  We had peach fuzz stuck in our skin and juice running down our arms.  That peach fuzz itched! the juice sticky and the dog was hot! My sister was always on "my side" of the "hump" that we had decided divided her side of t he car from mine. We had no radio because that was an expensive option and according to my Dad should be outlawed because it was a distraction to drivers! would not give up the memories for anything.  I sure do miss the peaches!

Nikki, love this story.  I have had the same experiences riding from PA to VA, just north of the NC line.  We survived the hump arguements, the bugs in the teeth - no air conditioning - the sticky bodies and messy shirts, as well.  I, too, fondly remember those days riding to Grandma's house so far away from home.

exactly  like my memories of texas peaches except i have 4 sisters and we had a radio (am) that only played when we were near a town-and we sang most of the way there and back------------but i still get peaches every year--------------my oldest sister lives like 10 mi. from the largest farm store and orchard so i always go up and get a peck

Well I was going to make fresh fruit salad but hubby wants warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. So I'm going to have to go back to the kitchen and start peeling apples.I should make him peel apples! Right like he's going to peel apples! lol lol lol ! I've learned long ago not to ask him to do anything with a sharp implement,he ends up in the Emergency Room.So I'll peel the applesTongue out
