Gale,  I love apple crisp with ice cream. Apples were so expensive in
Michigan that I didn't get any. They didn't have my mutsu apples at all.
Michigan only has about 5 to 10 percent of their crop this year. They had
had a early thaw and the apple trees went into blossoms and after that
they had another really cold spell and they froze. The only fruit that
survived was blueberries because they blossom later. The cherries,
peaches and pears were not much either.

That's a shame Carol I know you look forward to this.Apple crisp is one of my favorites,with vanilla ice cream of course! My big chain store has apples for .99 cents a pound so I'm taking advatage of that.My brothers apple trees were pretty bare this year but this happens almost every other year.He has a few fig trees and they did well so he has them there for me we just need to go pick them up.

Carol, I'm sorry too that your apple and fruit crops were not good this year.  We leave tomorrow to go to the mountains in Northern Georgia and Southern TN to see the fall leaves.  Hopefully, we'll be able to get some good apples there.  We now live near the coast in SC, so apples aren't grown in this area.  There are plenty of them in the stores, but we used to go to the orchard in NY and either pick our own or buy them fresh at the orchard.

Gale and Bakery 1, Thank you! The fall colors in MI were awesome this
year. When I left on Oct. 3 the yellow leaves were beginning to fall. I
usually never get to see them fall. They were falling early because of
the drought. When I got back to CA they were having a big sale on
apples at my Sprouts store for $.59 cents a lb. I did stock up! lol We get
our apples from Washington state in CA so I think they had a good
year because the price has never been this low before.

GRANA  here;
 Hi CAROLE P;
 Youjust explaied  why cherries are o expensiveafter an earlyseason modrate price.I even looked  into buying  frozen cherries eries; what once9 a # bag)an $3 is now nearly$5..The frozen mixed beries & cheries I used to buy ght are not even available/in stock this year.I had frozen some fresh blueberries this sumer so Iwas able to bake some blueberry muffins today;  a real enjoyable treat.... We (New Hampshire)are apple countr  and the once  $.99 # apples are nowunder $3 for 5# bag lots of applecrsp  &  appple mufin baking for  me. today's bluebery muffinsare a real  nice break for us.
SometimesI forget to look at  weater as the  cause of price inreases;blaming it all on the cost of  petroleum  for fertilizer,insecticides  & transportation!
