Tonight I'm making watermelon milkshakes to cool us down! I haven't had these in years seeing another forum brought back this memory.

GRANA  here;
 as part of our NewYears  CELEBRATION,  we chose to pick out lots of sweets & treats to enjoy:
I baked strawberry banana bran muffins; banana bran bundt cake;Chinese  almond cookies
& cream cheese fudge  brownies(instead of my usual fudge brownies
Each day morning  througn ight we have whatever treats we want.Tonight( our special @ home NewYears Eve celebratio), we had 
almond cookies & then THE BEST DESSERT: fresh ripe strawberies  &  slices of fresh juicy sweet pineapleTongue outlip lickin' good!

I am trying to "behave myself" today.  But there are a few tid bits left from the holidays that will get devoured today.  The items that do not get eaten will go in the freezer or in the back of the refrigerator so they are out of my sight.

Reading of all  your delighful  hot weather esserts;I'm having to"make do" Wink w/white chip macadamia nut cookies& a mug of  hot  tea....It's now wintertime  & a different type of desert is needed  in these cold days; especialy when one has a head cold.Embarassed

fresh fruits( pineapple slices,apples  &  oranges; "starting the New Year off right"

i cheated and had a m.c   mini peach pie----------cooks and browns in m/w in 6 mins--------------they are really delicious----------------and i don't have a whole pie to try to eat---------------being alone when they are on sale i buy a few for my freezer

Oohh that makes me think of my mom and her sister - Ambrosia was a favorite dessert for winter.  Yummm
Oranges, pineapple, sometimes bananas, coconut (preferably fresh) sometimes apples.  the list of ingredients varied but it was always delicious.
Usually served with homebaked pound cake.

we use sour cream with a little sugar in ours--------------tho most use whipped cream------------also i have used a particular creamy poppy seed dressing often------------because of a restaurant sampling -----and it is very good-----but not for family because some don't like to change things

One of my favorite desserts/snacks is buttered popcorn and hot cocoa.  Since it's cold outside I think this is going to be our dessert tonite.

Hmmm.... I don't remember.  Sometimes the fruits themselves provide enough juice.  I do put a sprinkle of sugar to get the juices going from the fruit.  Sometimes I use a splash of orange liquour in it.  Whipped cream or topping is also good.
Mom and her sister didn't follow a set pattern when putting ambrosia together.  It depended on what was available.

It takes so many fruits it ends up being a BIG bowl.  Next time I have to take food some where - I'll try that.

We had the last of the cookies my youngest son baked.  Put some in the freezer for my older son.  He picked them up tonight.
