I will rinse fruits and vegetables but I don't scrub them.  Leafy items I rinse as well. It may sound strange but I store my cans upside down in the pantry that way the lids stay pretty dust and debris free.  I wipe the lids down before I open them though. I do not rinse chicken or other meat products.  I have read that chicken should be rinsed then I read other reports saying that by rinsing you have a tendency to spray more chicken juices around than if you just pat it dry. I do rinse all dry beans and rice.  I rinse until water runs clear.

I do rinse dry beans, looking for any stones that have been picked up during harvesting and pick out any bad beans. Rinsing rice would depend on where it's from.
