All I can think it "what a waste of eggs".  But I am not a big fan of beer to start with.  So perhaps it is really good if you are a beer lover.

Gale,
I do not like the smell or taste of beer, but the one aunt that is still around (she will be 84 & was the youngest of the sisters) said she remembered that the hot egg in beer was good. I am going to print the recipe out (in large letters for her to see) & mail it to her.
If you make the recipe, please post what you think of the taste. I am thinking that the milk might mellow the beer taste, & I would like to try it.
Thanks for looking it up & posting.

I like to make beer bread that is tasty and the beer is just to make the bread light and airy, but beer and eggs, yuk! I am not that adventurous. Let us know if you make it and like it...

YUK!!  Warm beer is bad enough alone.  I can't imagine adding the eggs and then drinking it!  Someone must have had a wild idea when they thought of that!!  But.....thank goodness, we all have our taste buds.....and if you have those.....this bud is for you!

I agree with Ann on this...a beer eggnog!

I will have to give this recipe to my nephew who owns his own brewery and he is the Brewmaster.

Thanks Gail...very interesting!

All I can say is I sure could find much much better things to do with eggs, lemon peel, milk and sugar....sure sounds like the start to a great lemon cake.

Never could stand the smell of beer, never liked the taste much either. So I think I will pass on the "Beer-Nog".

A little research yielded this info that may be the origin of the Beer-Nog:
Syllabub is a milk, cream and sugar mixture mixed with Sherry or Port very thick and sweet.  Often used as a dessert.  A bit thinner and drinkable it is a:
Posset, Hot wine with milk, spices, and eggs.  Ale was sometimes used with or without the wine.

A bit more than anyone wanted to know I am sure.
