To the gal who was wondering what vegetable she could serve with turkey besides corn, how about rutabaga or green beans?  They both are so good with turkey gravy over them.

I would go for a roasted butternut squash before I would do Rutabaga.  I have never had one prepared in a way that I liked.
Carrots or parsnips would taste good.  Possibly a combination of the two they cook in about the same time, both a bit sweet.  Steam or roast.  If you steam them they would taste great with an orange or ginger glaze.  (To get them to try parsnips I told my kids when they were little that parsnips were albino carrots)

I really like roasted root veggies with a turkey dinner - or other meat as well.  Fall is a great time for such.

Chuckle, My sister-in-law was making veggie soup ( she makes excellent veggie soup) and we were discussing what all she put in.  She said carrots - o.k.- and "white carrots".  I said " those are parsnips".  "Oh no, I never eat pasnips, I don't like them".
I know the seed catalogs list a variety of carrots but I haven't seen white ones.  It looks like a parsnip to me.
The soup was yummy - whatever you call those veggies in there.

Frances -- I have/had a fantastic recipe for veggie soup and it called for "white carrots" Wink First time I ever tasted one.
I never see them in the stores around here.
