On my last trip to Aldis I noticed a new type of fish to our area.If you like fish the price is right 2# for$5.99.There's no odor and the fish is light with a delicate sweet flavor. It's origin is South East Asia, and it's classified as Cat Fish however I don't think it tastes anything like cat fish..The good news it's good for you it is rich in omega 3 fatty acids.I've done some reading lately and Tilapia is really not all that good for you and it's high in fat,not Omega 3.With the taste of this fish being so good I feel the prices will rise on this as soon as it catches on.Tonight I pan seared the fish and finished it off with a butter lemon caper sauce it was excellent.Hope you get to try this fish.

I have seen this in the stores and in the ads but wasn't sure what it was.  Great to hear that it tastes nothing like catfish, which I really detest lol.  I like fish but really can't get past the taste and smell of catfish.  I'm sure you've noticed that the price of fish goes up almost as fast as meat prices.  Pretty soon we'll have to go out and catch our own in order to be able to afford it.

I'll have to try this one.  Thanks Gale.

For dinner last night I made Whiting fish, which we enjoy more than Tilapia. I coated it lightly in bread crumbs and grated parmesan cheese, added some seasoning salt, tossed it onto a baking sheet and baked for about 20 minutes.

And yes, thanks for the info about Swai. I haven't seen it at the stores here, but will be looking for it.

I have seen this at Aldi's and at several of the "ethnic" stores I shop.  I have not tried it but now thanks to you I guess I will.  (Also thanks to my new doctor who is on my case to lower cholesterol!)

Welcome David.Thank you for all the info on Swai, and the other types of Asian catfish.I'm looking forward to eating a lot of this fish in the future.I'm so impressed with the way it comes packaged, each fillet is individually wrapped and frozen. It appears that a lot of care has gone into the handling of this fish.I had also read that the importing of this fish is also helping keep our people employed with all the steps in bringing this to our tables. From what I have read this fish seems very versatile and can be prepare in so many different ways.Thank you again.
