My Mom had the best rhubarb patch and she used it in so many things.  My children never liked strawberry rhubarb pie, but they loved the strawberry rhubarb bread/muffins that I made and the strawberry rhubarb jam.  My Mom made a rhubarb sauce and my Dad would sneak in to the kitchen at night to eat a bunch of it.  I have a contained area next to my garage that would be a perfect spot for some plants, maybe I should pick a few of them and see how it goes.  Until then I'll pick mine up at our local farmers market.

Renee, hope my thank you note reached you but just in case, thank you so much for sending along the recipe.  My mouth is watering just thinking about how good this is going to be.

In Response to Re: Strawberry Rhubarb Pie : I did have luck finding it at a church plant sale.  Sort of a fund raiser for the church people dig plants out of their garden and sell them.  Got 2 for $3.00 each. Not much less than the Big Box Store is selling them for but I figure the church can use the money more than Home Depot or Lowes.

I got a couple plants at the garden center a couple years ago for $7 each and they died.  one of my friends saw a nice big plant at another garden center for $16.  Good grief!

I didn't get your thank you note (I think the messaging system here is glitchy) but you are most welcome as always!  I am happy to share! Smile

My grandmother used to get rhubarb from the ladies who lived next door in Chicago.  Funny, I never developed a taste for it though.  Does look good in your picture Renee.

By the way your tasty crust tid bits were always a favorite when my Grandma made pie.  And then I do the same thing.
I do all sorts of stuff.  I add a bit of jelly or jam and make little pocket pies or I brush with butter and add cinnamon sugar.  I have also sprinkled the crust bits with cheese then press the cheese into the crust for little cheese sticks.  There is always a way to use leftover dough!
