In Response to Re: SPLIT SECONDS CAN BE MADE WITHOUT SUGAR : Good morning Nikki. you must have some kind if sweetener and splenda is a sweetener substitute it has 0 calories of course there is a difference in taste and texture but for anyone who must restrict sugar it is a true blessing if you are using Splenda for cakes tea breads and many other kinds of baking you must use half real sugar and half Splenda in order for it to rise and give it proper texture in this recipe you don't have to worry about it rising much so only Splenda is needed I actually use a different kind of artificial sweetener called Sugar Twin I buy it by the cases thru Amazon used to carry it in the store but Splenda squeezed it out tastes better and much cheaper

Sorry, I must have mis read your post I thought you said it could be made without any kind of sweetener.
I don't like the artificial stuff so I use "real" sugar.
I bet this would be just as good with the "new" Stevia that is now on the market.
