I have been given this recipe too, and it called for use in a mug.

This sounds quite interesting.  I think I'll have to give it a try, but I've got two quick questions--

Does the recent downsize of the cake mixes play into the results of how this would turn out?

If I went with the 1/2 box of angel food and 1/2 box of flavored mix--same amount in each box?

This could be a fun and different holiday gift for office staff at school.  Thanks for sharing.

As long as the measurements were equal meaning 1/2 box of each.Measure by weighing or cup by cup.I hope I'm understanding your question. It's been awhile since I have bought a cake mix.Do the mixes still make a two layer or 9x13 ? Anyhow I'm going to be buying new mixes this week to make up for a friend.I'll check it out and let you know.

when i went 1/2's          i weighed everything on my scale     actually eyeball was pretty good  but scale was more accurate       even though i had separate bag of egg whites in mine         and probably all of my pckgs were the reduced size
if you don't have a scale    it is a good investment   especially now with all the downsized products

there is an earlier thread on kitchen scales         i think it's under beginner's

ok i made this last night judy
do you actually mix it in your cup?             it took me forever to get the egg mixed in and my hand was aching             i used a small whisk
then i got piggy   and added the chocolate chips and some chopped walnuts    my result was almost like a brownie         and it was also too much for me           i ate half with ice cream       and excuses, excuses     i will be forced to eat the rest for breakfast this morning
