I decided I wanted a recipe for the Turtle Cookies that are in the refrigerated section at the grocery store.  I made the Nestle Toll house cookies & cut down on the choc. chips to 1 to 1 1/2 cups, chopped pecans 1/2 C, and 3/4 Cup of Kraft© caramel bits.  Mix well & bake as usual.  I like them better.  I can make them normal size with no problems.  Beth

I always bring some of the things I bake up to my daughters.  I have a pumpkin bread recipe that makes 3 loaves and one always gets put in the freezer for later, one goes home with someone and the last one gets eaten here.
Bar cookies  (mostly the Carmelita bars) are eaten by my Grandson either here or he will take some home.

I always used to bring things to work but now I will see if they will be welcomed by the staff at my husbands Adult Day Care. (for staff not residents)

My attempts to share were taking the cookies to the city police dept., taking the Pumpkin Pie Crunch to a young man at church (he was so happy !!) and a box of cookies to a family who was back from a long trip.

Today I'm making  pumpkin pie  for our Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow.  Will have the entire family over for dinner tomorrow.

I always share whatever I have baked, as my husband and I don't need to be any sweeter than we already are. LOL  When my youngest son is deployed, he is the recipient of most of my baked goods. When I worked away from home, I shared with the folks at work and the student assistants we had working for us in the Library. I am now volunteering weekly at our local Food Pantry, and usually have some baked goodie to share with the other volunteers. My neighbors can usually count on a plate of shared good-stuff as well.

Sunday I finished making a double batch of chocolate covered cherries and sent some home with my sons. The rest will go in the Christmas baskets I give to family and friends. Today I got everything organized for the baking that I will do the rest of this week: Caramel Layer German Chocolate Bars, Mocha Brownies, 7 Layer Bars, Lemon Bars, Date Crumb Bars, Harvest Pumpkin Apple Breads, and 1 or 2 new recipes from you, my VBB friends.

I always share!  Some times it's all of what I bake and some times it's part of what I bake but I always share!  I make platters of cookies for my mammogram girls over at the Diagnostic Center, I bake pies for our police officer son and his sweet little gal, I bake treats for my husband to take on military drills so he can have a little piece of home with him while he is away, I bake cakes for church functions, and I bake breads for new neighbors along with shipping far from here for those who are in need.  I try and share with every one who I think could use a little love or comfort.Laughing

I bring a lot of stuff to work. When I was making 3 loaves of pear bread at a time, I'd bring 2 to work and keep one for us at home.  
Today I brought a Gooey Butter Cake to work.

I have not shared much in the past few days.  As a matter of fact have not turned on the oven at all.  My husband was sick for two days then I got sick.
Sort of feeling "normal" today looking around I have a ton of housework to do, several loads of laundry so I doubt that the oven will get fired up today, maybe tomorrow.
I have a lot of stuff to do in the next few days.  I'm scheduled for surgery on the 5th so there is a round of Dr. visits for lab work. I have to get stuff ready in advance so lunches dinners will be easy for me to get ready.  I figure if I can get at least 3 weeks worth of meals ready I should be alright but both of us getting sick sort of set me back a few days.

Nikki --- you're scheduled for surgery!  I'll be holding you in prayers for a fast, easy trip - and faster than 3 week recovery.

At last, when I changed doctors this one took my "complaint" of a sore foot seriously and sent me to a podiatrist.  One look at the x-rays he said that I have a bunion and what is causing so much pain is a bone spur that has broken off and is being wedged between the joints when I walk.
He will not know until he "gets in there" if he will have to replace the joint.
Best case non weight bearing for about 4 weeks, worse case non weight bearing for 8 weeks.
I am going to go crazy.....
My husband will not understand why I can not drive.  He will not understand why I can't do most of the things that I have to do.
The fact that I can not get him to Adult Day Care means I will be locked in the house with him for a month...like I said I am going to go crazy...

i saw a new proceedure  for bunions that allows minimum invasion and only takes a few days to get over
i would check it out before i got it done

also i had   plantar fascitis(?) or heel spur about 20 yrs ago and it is major radiating pain    especially in the morning          i had an endoscopic proceedure and was required to walk out of day surgery
and i never had more pain from that

i've had a lot of surgeries over the years maybe 15  or even more if i sat down and thought about it

Podiatry!!  what a subject ......... I see mine at 10 in the morning.   I had a simple prochedure done two weeks ago -- ingrown toe nails on both sides of both big toes.

I will check this out.
I also had plantar faschitis about 15 years ago this dr told me that it may have been caused by the bunion as that shifts the fascia and can cause the inflammation.

Nikki, I will be praying for you and I hope you will recover soon from
your surgery. I wished I lived closer to you too. I sure wish that
someone would take your hubby to Adult Day Care so you can get
some rest after your surgery.

I am going to be in a cookie exchange @ I found the reciepe for Ice Cream Sundae Cookies. Has anyone tried them @ how did they go over.?Laughing

Hi Ruth .....Welcome to VBB ......
 I've made those Ice Cream Sundae Cookies over and over.  I love 'em!  
They are a very popular cookie where ever you take them.

And thank you for great timing  :) .... I just got an email from my lovely next door neighbor. 
She's looking for a cookie recipe for a cookie exchange she's going to.  I'll just make the cookies
for her because I know she has very little time and hates to cook. 
You just gave me a good idea for cookie exchange goodies.
