I'm looking for ideas for serving a dessert in those clear plastic cups you see at parties.  I want something easy to serve individually and if any are left at the end of Oscar Nite, people can take them home?

What do you think would be the most popular flavors?  I'm thinking of apple crisp. . . maybe ladyfingers layered with whipped cream and berries.  Any other ideas?

jello mouse.  I pkg of jello, 3 cups hot water, and 1 tub of thawed cool whip. Put the dry pkg of jello in a medium bowl. add hot water, stir to desolve jello. Add the cool whip and whisk until cool whip is desolved into jello. Pour into the cups , cover tops of cups with saran wrap and chill overnight. The jello mixture will separate into clear-like on bottom and creamy mousse like on top. you can add friut on top or tilt the cups while chilling.

The clear plastic cups, do you mean the little flat bottomed ones or something more fancy like a wine glass or martini glass?
A mini tiramisu or a mini cheesecake might look very pretty. The base of the cheesecake could be as simple as a 'Nilla wafer or a home made cookie. If you didn't want to make a no bake cheesecake from "scratch" Philadelphia Cream-cheese has a ready made one.  A selection of toppings could be made available for anyone to customize their own cheesecake.
The tiramisu would look very pretty in the wine or martini glass, you could even rim the glass with a bit of cocoa. (although that may be a bit messy if people are going to take them home.)

You could go very simple and "old school" and just do a great mousse.  To make it a bit fancier you could do a "film" theme and make them black and white, a chocolate mousse, a white chocolate mousse and a dark chocolate ganache over the top.  The Ganache will firm up and seal the mousse so no spills.

Apple crisp would also be good as you mentioned but I would do apple and cranberry to add a bit of tart to the sweet.  I love crisps they are great hot, I don't know how well they would do in plastic cups.
How many people will you be making these for?  If you wanted to "splurge" hit a few resale shops and buy coffee mugs and make each crisp in a mug.  Individual servings and people can take the mugs home.

My Grandkids ask for dirt cake in the clear short tumblers.  I have to add gummy worms too.  I find this disgusting but they love it.
  For Oscar Night I would pour melted white chocolate tinted with gold food color and roll it around until the cup is coated.  Then I would add no bake cheesecake filling to that.  I would top with a tuxedo strawberry.  Dip a nice size strawberry in white chocolate then dip the sides of the strawberry to look like a tux.

I would make mini cheese cakes in muffin tins and then drop the cooled cakes into the small plastic cups.  I often top them with ready made pie fillings i.e. cherry, blueberry, or chocolate chips...use chocolate cookies as crust instead of the vanilla wafers for the chocolate ones.  You can always add little sprinkles that are festive etc.

If there will be food other than desserts, I would do a layered fruity jello, it would look pretty, not be too heavy to eat & you can make it the day before. Do a little red at the bottom, maybe lemon or pineapple jello with seedless grapes mixed in, layer of grape, then a layer of orange with sliced banana, top with more of the red.

Ohhhhh this sounds wonderful!  I've never had it but it would be sooo pretty in the clear cups!  I'll definitely do that!  Thanks for sharing this.  I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I'm thinking the clear plastic flat bottom ones so they will sit steadily on the counter.  I like the looks of the goblet ones but I'm afraid they might get topped with so many people in the kitchen.  I like the idea of a "black and white theme".  That could be my chocolate brownie trifle.  I'm definitely doing apple crisp with cranberries.  That will be different and very pretty on display -- I'm thinking hot would be better also and I'll just let people spoon the hot crisp into their cups.  I do have a thrift shop collection of mugs that would definitely work for ease of serving and holding. . . might be good to set a dish of hot butterscotch at the side to spoon over. 

Cheesecake would be easily done and the ease of toppings would make it really unique!  Great idea!

Omygosh!  I've got plenty of white chocolate in the cupboard.....wouldn't THIS knock their socks off!  Oh myyyyyy wouldn't that TASTE good too! 

I'm adding this to my list for Oscar Nite AND Bunco nite!

You know...I was just thinking that it is the details in presentation which make the difference between a good dessert and a GREAT dessert!  Adding sprinkles...or making a change in the flavor of the crust is a welcome surprise that takes a dessert over the top.  I appreciate all the ideas I have received.  I think I will be very proud of my dessert cups!

Thanks!  It's good to hear that you've already used the ideas with success.  I'm sold then...These are so easy that I can pick some flavors for Saturday Nite bunco and then have another selection for the Oscar Nite buffet.  Outstanding!

Maxine!  I haven't thought of banana pudding in years!  What a homey taste this would be.  Honey, who was the cook at my grade school, used to give us kids cups of banana pudding in cups if we helped in the kitchen.  I remember, it had a vanilla wafer in the bottom of the cup, then a layer of bananas, then pudding, then more bananas pudding, then whipped cream on the top with a sprinkling of chopped pecans or a drizzle of butterscotch.  Oh heavens what a great memory.  Good grief!  Thank Heaven I have a potluck on two days in a row so i can try out ALL these ideas and THEN add to my favorites cookbook.

Oh yehhh!  Jello looks like jewels when the lights kit it and adding a contrasting color of fruit would be just like a magazine.  I'm feeling very very confident about arriving at the parties with desserts for everyone.  I'm thinking I'll carry them in a white box filling with some shredded tissue paper.  Won't THAT look snazzy.  Thanks for the color suggestions.  I think I'll make small batches of a three of colors of jello so it makes a rainbow presentation.  I can give these extras to my neighbors to enjo!   I'll be very popular this weekend!
