George Foreman grills, electric skillets, waffle irons any appliance that does not give off excessive heat . It is too hot and humid to use the outdoor grill.

With all the peaches in the stores I plan on getting some today but as peaches go you can never tell if they are going to be good or not so I may be baking a cake. I have a recipe for a Peach Pound Cake that can make the not so great tasting peaches taste great. I think it would work for nectarines, pears and apricots as well.

Thanks for all the well wishes on the garage sale. It would be great to make a lot of $$ but at this point I will be happy to get rid of some of the stuff and be able to park my car in the garage again.

Another blueberry bread pudding,I used almond extact ,vanilla extract and lemon zest in the bread pudding and the sauce was made with lemon juice and zest.so good!

Nothing today in the oven! The next time I do some baking will be baking a Choc. Chip Cake w/Choc. Frosting for our 4th of July picnic. The next 2 weeks will be busy between working at the post office, going for blood work, tests, trying to keep my house clean, shopping and the list goes on!! lol

A womans work is never done!! :')

Have a great time please don't forget sunscreen at least 45, 50 would be better. Apply often. And drink lots of water. Even on the water you get dehydrated and not know it. (ok I'll get down off the "mom" soapbox now).

Well I sliced up the Chicago Style Italian Beef and I must say it is outstanding.
Sad thing I was going to sell the little Rival meat slicer at the Garage Sale now I am not so sure I want to sell it.
The meat was what I call "Stupid Simple" to make. And I cheated on the recipe.
Here is the recipe:
Hunk-O-Beef I used 4.5 pound top round that was on close out at Sam's
1/2 bottle of Italian dressing, used this because I didn't have garlic powder or onion powder.
2 Cups beef broth.
Slather meat with Italian dressing and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Place meat and broth along with the dressing in pan.
Bake at 250 for 20 minutes per pound.
Removed it from the oven and placed it in a container with all the juices. Refrigerated overnight.
Sliced it this morning and placed slices back in container with the juices.
Tomorrow I will heat the juice and just put the beef in when a sandwich is wanted. That way the beef will stay tender.
Serve with roasted peppers and Giardiniera, I do have mozzarella cheese for the few that will want cheese.

Well I just tried one of the peaches I got this morning and sorry to say it is a miserable excuse for a peach.
So the Peach Pound Cake will be on the menu this weekend.
Can anyone tell me why we can send a person to the moon, predict with some accuracy the weather for the weekend but we have lost the ability to produce juicy, tasty succulent peaches with juice that drips down your chin. I know it is all due to production and transportation so sad........But good for my Pound Cake!

Nikki - I bought a small bag of the miserable peaches this evening ..... I'll peel, chop, stir in sugar, put a small amount into those little Snack size baggies. Then the small bags will go into big freezer bags. These make a great ice cream topping all year long - especially winter.
I do this every year.

Nancy try this with some of the "miserable" peaches.
Harvest Peach Upside-Down Cake
1 Cup butter
3 Cups sugar
6 eggs
2 Cups peeled, chopped peaches, about 4 medium
2 Tb vanilla
3 Cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Have all ingredients at room temperature. Grease and flour a tube pan (a Bundt pan could probably be used it just has to be large enough.)
Place peeled and chopped peaches in a bowl and add vanilla, stir and set aside.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon, set aside.
In a large bowl of mixer cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs 2 at a time, blending well after each addition. This is the important part as the cake will rise higher if the sugar and butter are well beaten and the eggs are gradually added.
Starting and ending with the dry ingredients, gently blend in flour mixture and peaches, one third at a time. Use a large spoon or blend on lowest speed to just combine.
Pour into pan, make sure not to get the batter on the upper third of the tube which will prevent the cake from coming out of the pan.
Place on middle rack in oven, bake about 70-75 minutes, until cake is browned and springy to the touch or a thin skewer inserted comes out clean.
Remove from oven let cool 5-10 minutes, run a butter knife around the cake and the outside wall of the pan, turn the pan over onto a rack and let the cake slide out. Turn the cake over if you want and let the cake cool completely. Place on serving plate sprinkle with powdered sugar if you like.

I sure hope you like this. It does wonders for the hard rather tasteless peaches. Baking them does bring out the sweetness...then again it could be the 3 cups of sugar and the 1 cup of butter

I did hold out 1/4 of the dough to skip the candy bar but add semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, white chips, peanut butter chips and dry roasted peanuts.
