I made real biscuits to have for strawberry shortcake tonight.  I have enough berries for one more time and biscuits for 2.  the recipe says makes 15 or so biscuits, but I don't use a cutter.  I just pat the dough and cut into 6 pieces.  Biscuits are so easy.  Recipe calls for shortening, but I used butter.

Darlene - Welcome to VBB.  I am sure you will enjoy all of the recipes and most importantly, the sharing.
I must admit that I have never thought to put almonds in my oatmeal cookies, I bet they add a different, but good flavor.

Nellie, I always had the same problem with the dark Bundt Pan.  I finally "bit the bullet" a few years back and got one of the heavier, lighter colored ones. It has made all the difference in baking with that pan.
They are expensive but I got a 20% off coupon and a 10.00 from Bed Bath and Beyond and used both, made 2 purchases and since the 20% comes off the highest price item anyway it was a pretty good deal.
Not sure if it is the lighter color that does it or the fact that it is much heavier than the other one I had.
So look for a heavier lighter one I am sure you will be pleased with it.

nikkki,
my mom gave us all the original bundt pans in the 70's   silvery/pewter color and weighed a ton

unfortunately a niece borrowed mine and then swore she didn't have it
I've bought at least 2 more and besides this one  and they all stick or don't cook properly
one of them was  original but had a non-stick lining, which the original one doesn't

I've been on-line and in the store at bb&b  and although they have one that is 'original'  it's not

and I don't care what it cost  if I could find one like I had

My bundt pan is a copper colored one.  I'm wondering if is might be a jello mold.  It isn't real light, but not heavy at all.  I find if I grease it with crisco and flour or cocoa it (depending if I'm making light or chocolate) it doesn't stick.  The trick was to get the crisco into all the little crevices.  By flouring it I could see if I missed any spots.

My oven was busy this morning.  We're gong to a picnic this afternoon and I made a sour cream coffee cake with cherries.  It seemed like it took forever to bake and when it came out it felt heavy.  I'm not sure what happened.  So as not to apoil my reputation as a baker, I made a flourless chocolate cake to take instead.  As long as the oven was warm I put in a pan of granola as my container was about empty.

Ditto what Judy said ...... I have two bundt pans - one is a very light weight white one and the other is a heavier metal colored one. Both work just fine if I carefully use enough Crisco and flour.

change of plans
just as I went in to light the oven, my son called and said I was invited for brisket around 5
so I put the ham in fridge and will cook it tomorrow
as it will be thawed by then it will have to spend less time in the oven
and it's 96 today

A very dear friend told me this morning that her nine much-loved grandkids will be here for the 4th of July.  Incredible kids!   I will try to ignore this heat we're having and get to baking.  I want to have LOTS of cookies for these special kids.

Nothing in my oven today since I had the sour cream coffee cake I made yesterday.  Actually it would have been fine to take to the picnic as we tried it tonight.  It does seem a bit heavy though.  The flourless chocolate cake was a hit.  There were lots of people there and when I went to pick up my plate there was a note on it.  Someone had said how wonderful it was and wanted the recipe.  She left her email address.  That's one way to get a recipe for something good when you haven't a clue as to who brought it.

I made the great Kris Kringle cookies and just finished the oatmeal.  It's too hot to try more baking today.

I baked brownies along with oatmeal raisin cookies earlier today.  Hopefully that will be enough to hold us over for a while.  I did make a double batch of the cookies and froze the one batch so we will have some to enjoy when it's too hot to bake.

Cheri -- please, what is your recipe for oatmeal cookies?   I use the one on the box of Quaker oatmeal.
