It " feels like" 85' so no baking today; canteloupe, strawberries and  watermelon are  more enjoyable and easierto prepare  desserts( than cookies) on hot days like thisWink

Toasting italiam herb bread in the oven with mozzarella and provolone cheese on it.  I also took whole Yukon gold potatoes then sliced thinly but not al the way through, drizzled olive oil over them and seasoned with pepper and baked till tender.  They looked really nice after baking as the slices spread apart a bit.

There's a lovely wedding shower in a week or so .......... I'm going to take a big batch of my American Cheese Sandwiches.  They're always a big hit at a party.  I've posted the precious recipe before but here it is for new people.

CHEESE SANDWICHES (or AMERICAN SANDWICHES)
1 bag (1 dozen) dollar rolls (very small, plain, white rolls. Cut in half
1/2 lb American cheese, shredded. Shredded Velveeta is fine.
1/2 lb bacon fried, drained and crumbled
2 Tblsp chopped black olives
2 Tblsp finely chopped or shredded onion
2/3 cup mayo (approximate measure.
Just enough may to moisten and bind stuff together)

Mix everything* and spread on half of a dollar roll.
Preheat oven to 350*. Bake on foil covered cookie sheet until cheese
is bubbly and starting to brown a bit - 8 to 10 minutes.
*Flavor improves if you make the cheese spread a day ahead
of time and let it set in 'fridge.

This afternoon I'm off to the dentist, then to church to do some painting.  This evening I plan to make a couple batches of cookie dough.  I'll bake them early tomorrow morning.

Hi Gale -- the woman hosting the shower at her home asked me to bring these cheese sandwiches..... she's seen how popular they are and how fast they disappear.
I won't be making any cookie dough this evening.   My trip to the dentist was a difficult one ... I'm going to sit and vegetate.

I bake a new cake to me last night. It's an orange creamsicle cake. It's a poke cake made with orange juice and orange jello.it needed to be refrigerated for 6 hours after baking. This morning I will be making a vanilla whipped cream frosting to go on the cake then it needs a few hours to set before serving. Can't wait to taste this one.

Yesterday I made a red velvet cake with the cooked frosting.  Also made a batch of blueberry muffins.  I used the white whole wheat flour for the muffins and it turned out really good.
