This morning I baked an apple pie. Where our son goes to Church, the youth group made apple pies and froze them. they were selling them. Our son bought one for us. He did the same thing last year. Had it in the freezer. Since it was snowing AGAIN, decided to bake it today. It was delicious. These teens do a great job!!!

At 0600 hrs; therewere as cookies in the oven
Before 0700 hrs; rice custard wasbaking away; all the cheescake is gone & rice custard is a lot easier to make than cheesecake
Our home is warm & cozy; smellswonderful: vanilla extract & chocolate

Hi Ann,Wow baked rice custard ,my Mom used to make that.I bet your house smells great! I have bread baking right now,got an early start.Later brownies,with lots of walnuts and chocolate butter cream frosting.

Not exactly in the oven but I just finished making and eating a nice hot bowl of Steel Cut Oatmeal. A little brown sugar on it. Very satisfying on a cold morning.

Hi GALE g; Yes; it did for awhile but te warmth lingered on long enough to allow us to get ready to go out & do errands I'll trade my house smells for yours; nothing wrong w/a home smelling like fresh baking bread & /or brownies

My Mom, never made baked rice custard
I do lots of things she never did:stay married to hubby#1 for 48 years;
make most meals"from scratch"& enjoy cookng & baking
She lso did somethingI haven't done either : run a successful business & raise a daughter
No wonder she didn't enjoy cookin & baking[too tired & no time]
As a child,I learned "if want something yummy to eat;I had better shop for the ingredients & bake it myself; keeps me in good stead in my old age;
I had some left-over brown rice & always have(Carnation)evporated milk; so all I had to do was add eggs, vanilla a ittle butter and m icrowave for less than than 20minutes.It did smell GREAT & after cooling off;tasted terific too.

My Grandma used to make a baked rice pudding that was out of this world. Have not been able to duplicate the recipe and I have tried all different recipes and they all seem to fail in the taste or texture department.

60 years ago mom made what we called rice pudding .... cooked rice with butter, sugar, more sugar, milk and cinnamon.

Tonight I have a blackberry, rasphberry, & blueberry cobbler in my oven. We have over a foot of snow on the ground and I could use some sunshine! This is just my way of introducing a "whiff" of spring!

This afternoon, on the way home, I bought some great chicken wings. I'll have those with yesterday's cole slaw and tomatoes. Can't wait.

In my oven today will be cake mix baked in a flat-bottom ice cream cone -- the super idea from someone right on here..
Icing and decorating these will be the project for the kid's "art" class at church tonight.
This afternoon I'll make some cardboard holders for the cones. I hope I can persuade the kids to keep the icing off their clothes!!
