My husband has requested some oatmeal raisin cookies so I think I'll get going on those today.  The problem is that I could eat a dozen of them while enjoying a pot of coffee.  I'd much rather eat the freshly baked cookies than eat a healthy lunch.  That couldn't possibly be behind my problem with my weight - ha!

Cheri, oatmeal and raisins are definitely healthy.

Yesterday I used up the last of the pears from my tree and made a batch of pear muffins with raisins and pecans.  I use nutmeg for spice and they are really good.

Made Hubby's birthday cake today.  He chooses his cake by the picture.  He chose a triple layer sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese icing.  It is decorated with chopped pecans and white chocolate chips.
I have a little booklet that is winning cake recipes from county fairs and each has a picture.  So far each one I've made has been really good.

As a night owl in my oven at 3:00 am is walnut apple pumpkin bread with the usual spices. Breakfast with coffee when I wake up in "my" morning. It's so nice to be able to follow your own body schedule and bake in the middle of the night! :)

Vicki - How wonderful that you are able to follow your own body schedule.  I am finding that I would prefer to do my cleaning when others are sleeping, fewer distractions that way.  Unfortunately, the opportunities for that are few and far between because we have a full house and I don't like disturbing others.  I have a feeling that when we get an empty nest that I will be much more of a night owl and resting more during the day.  By the way, your walnut apple pumpkin bread sounds delicious - enjoy!

Wow Vickie, you go girl!!  This bread sounds wonderful but the 3 a.m., maybe not so much!  I used to clean at night but never as late as 3 a.m.  You are so smart to let your body decide your schedule.

Not truly in my oven, but on my countertop in a crock pot is rice pudding for tonight's dessert.  Steaks will go on the grill but not sure what else will make its way to the table.

It's really, really cold here today so baking will warm up the kitchen and the freshly baked bread will warm up our stomachs this evening.  I think I'll get a meatloaf mixed up to go with the bread.

In my oven at this night owls' house at 1:00am is some leftover pie crust scraps that I pieced together & rolled spread with butter & sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and cooked in the oven. Now to start on the stupid dishes! Maybe before I get old (like I'm not already!) I will own a dishwasher. :)
