Due to my abundance of pears, yesterday I made a huge pear crisp and 2 loaves of pear bread.  One loaf came to work with me this morning.  The one that is at home has pecans sprinkled all over the top.  They got toasted as the bread baked and it is wonderful.  No nuts for work because some don't like nuts.;

Judy I also would love your crisp recipe. (although personally I can't imagine a crisp with no nuts what are your co workers thinking!)
Crisps, Brown Betty and any other that has the crumble crisp topping are my favorite.  Not a real fan of the Grunts.  A cobbler is alright but I prefer the crumble topping to a biscuit topping.

This sounds so gosh darned good!
One of the stores near me has coconut crusted cod and I just might get some for dinner this weekend. (Plain cod is the same price so I will most likely get plain and coat my own..why pay for breading?)

Pumpkin cookies!  They are a Halloween tradition - I've been making them since I had small children.  I usually decorate them with walnlut pieces and candy corn to make pumpkin faces, but leave some with just the frosting.

Saturdays are busy days for me but I hope I can find time to try another new recipe ... Macadamia Nut Brownie Cookies or Cherry Chocolate Chip.
The last new one I tried - Praline Oatmeal - were OK but the recipe doesn't get its star and taped to the inside of my cabinet doors.  I won't make it again.

Nancy, it is one of those things that I don't use a recipe.  I just cut up pears to fit the size of the container I want to bake, mix probably 1/4 c sugar, 1 T flour if pears are juicy, 1 t. nutmeg, 1 t. cinnamon, 1/2 t mace and stir into the pears.  For the topping I use a couple cups of oats, a cup of whole wheat flour, some butter, some oil, about 1/4 c. brouwn sugar, mix together and sprinkle on.  I don't really have exact measurements for anything.  I usually use a bigger than 9x13 pyrex dish for baking.  It is probably 10x 14 or 15.

Forgot to add, I use some chopped pecans in the topping of the crisp and I don't peel my pears.  I've grown them myself so I know that they have no poison on them.

Thank you, Judy -- I wonder how grocery store pears would work.

We have swiss steak in the oven - should be done in a few minutes.  The house smells so good.  For dessert I think we'll have some ice cream - I haven't had a sundae for a while and it sounds pretty tasty now.

I just baked some cookies to send to my grand daughter in college in North Carolina.  I made regular chocolate chip dough, but added a whole package of the mini chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup or so of roasted almonds(chopped).  My husband got to taste one before I sent them, and he gave them a big thumbs up!!

Yesterday I made a pan of coconut chocolate chip bars.  I've had the recipe for years and don't remember ever making it. They turned out good according to my husband.  While the oven was warm I put in a batch of my granola

This morning, I made a pan of cinnamon rolls for morning snack.  It only took a little over an hour.  These are the ones that have melted butter and brown sugar in the pan (pecans added of course) and put the cinnnimon rolls on top.  Yum!
I taught my cinnamon roll class last night for Adult Ed and we made these.  Of course it took them most of 3 hours to get it done, but all came out great and everyone was happy.  They got to take home a pan of yummy rolls.

Judy...I can smell the cinnamon rolls now!

In my oven right now I am drying some sumac that I picked.  I have been reading that it is used as a spice and it is much like lemon in that it has a bit of a tang.  I have tried a few and they do have a lemony tang.  Now all I have to do is clean the seeds off the twiggy parts of the seed head.
