I decided it was a good time to try yet another new (to me) recipe.  I found one that I had all its ingredients ....WHITE CHIP APRICOT OATMEAL COOKIES.   I let the dough set in the fridge until it was nice and firm.    It gets another red star!!

Today I made my very first cheesecake, and it looks SO good!! I just put it in the fridge, and I can't wait to eat it tomorrow. It was a fairly simple recipe with simple ingredients but the work was SO time consuming, because my electric mixer all of a sudden stopped working as I was trying to combine the cream cheese, sugar, flour and vanilla, it wasn't until I added the eggs that it really came together smoothly. Tommorow we shall see how it turned out in taste! :)

Hi Erika -- welcome to VBB.  I hope you come back and tell us how the cheese cake tasted -- and please give us your recipe.

Welcome Erika.  I love cheesecake.  They are farily easy to put together, but if your mixer doesn't cooperate that isn't good.  You'll have to let us know how it turned out and if you like it.

Maxine - Congratulations on getting your oven clean.  That is one job that I absolutely put off as long as possible, and then maybe put if off a bit longer after that.

This afternoon I stirred up a batch of that Turtle Cookie dough .... I left out the chocolate chips and tripled the amount of pecans.  I'll bake them tomorrow morning.

Hi Judy --- Turtle cookies is not a Nestles recipe but I think I've posted it here before.  It's a VERY good cookie and it's easier to show the recipe again instead of looking for it.
 TURTLE COOKIES
350* - parchment - 12 min. -- 5+ doz.
2 cups minus 2 tablespoons cake flour
1 2/3 cups bread flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
 2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups dark chocolate chips
1 cup caramel bits
1 cup chopped pecans
 1. Sift flours, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
Set aside.
2. Using a mixer fitted with paddle attachment, cream butter and
sugars together until very light, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a
time, mixing well after each addition.
3. Stir in the vanilla. Reduce speed to low, add dry ingredients
and mix until just combined, 5 to 10 seconds.
4. Drop chocolate pieces, caramel bits, and pecans into dough
and gently combine.
5. Press plastic wrap against dough and refrigerate for 24 to
36 hours. Dough may be used in batches, and can be
refrigerated for up to 72 hours.
6. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
8. use a heaping tablespoon Bake until golden brown but
still soft, 12 minutes. Transfer sheet to a wire rack for 10
minutes, then slip cookies onto another rack to cool a bit more

Those Turtle cookies are coming out of the oven ...... they are DELICIOUS!!  Such a great recipe.
This current batch - no chocolate, 3 times the pecans - makes me want to try a variation.  Any suggestions?

A pie crust for strawberry pie.  Can't believe how huge the strawberries are this year.  I guess all the rain this Spring caused such big berries.

It's been in the repair shop since yesterday around noon --- picked it up around noon today - got it home and it would not work - back to the repair shop and they had not typed in some necessary ? numbers?.   Now it finally seems to be working again.

I agree with you about the beautiful and big strawberries this year.  I have been going crazy, my husband thinks I'll start turning red pretty soon because of all the strawberries I've been eating.  Besides being so big the ones I have been buying have also been very sweet.  My favorite lunch is a romaine salad with strawberries.

Enjoy your pie!

Before putting in the freezer I took about 1/3 of the batch,  dipped each one in melted chocolate chips and set on waxed paper to get solid.  Tonight I gave a bag to my neighbor and she loved them.  lol lol  She brought treats for my cats.
