We made oatmeal cookies earlier today and do they ever taste good.  These are my husband's favorite cookie, it's him Mom's recipe and it is the best one I've found.  I do appreciate getting good recipes from great cooks.

I love a good oatmeal cookie.  Better with raisins and nuts in them and I love the ones that have the butterscotch chips added.
I have not made Oatmeal cookies in a long time.  That sounds like a plan. All I have to do is get some oatmeal.  I don't eat the regular oatmeal so I rarely have it in the house but a batch of oatmeal cookies sounds like a trip to the store to me.

GRANA here
I've had a "hankering" for oatmeal cookies but must buy some butter &  Craisins to make the ones I want,I have enough pecans  and/or walnuts  oatmeal( bought last week)..I buy a few ingredients needed  each week so the budget overage in any one week doesn't spoil hubby's appetite for  cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I made 2 8" flourless chocolate cakes to take to work today.  We draw names for birthdays and it was my turn to bake a birthday cake.  I figured one 8" layer wouldn't be enough.  Really simple recipe.

If I have time this afternoon I'm going to try this recipe I found in Penzeys Spices ...............

CHRISTMAS MORNING COOKIES
32 cookies -- 325 -- ungreased - 20 min.
 * 1 Cup butter (2 sticks), softened
•1/3 Cup sugar
•1-2 tsp. water
•2 tsp. ALMOND EXTRACT
•1 tsp. VANILLA EXTRACT
•2 Cups all-purpose flour
•1 Cup chopped pistachios (I'll use walnuts)
•32 dried cherries, for topping
•2 Cups powdered sugar, for coating

In a large mixing bowl,
cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the ALMOND and VANILLA EXTRACT and mix well, using
just enough water to help the dough stick together if need be.
Fold in the flour and pistachios, and let the dough chill for
1-2 hours in the fridge.   When ready to bake, preheat the
oven to 325°. Shape the dough into balls and place on
ungreased cookie sheets. Press one cherry on top of each
cookie and bake for 20 minutes. The bottoms will be light
golden brown. Remove from the pans and let cool at
 least 30 minutes.
Place the powdered sugar in a big zip-top bag and, a
handful at a time, drop the cookies in and gently shake to coat.
Prep. time: 15 minutes plus 1-2 hours chilling time
Baking time: 20 minutes Yield: 32 cookies

Hi Cheri --- that recipe is still taped to a cabinet door waiting to be tried.   I had a long, difficult morning - water all over church basement floor - so I worked hard and came home too tired to bake.
hee hee - I did have the strength to prepare a great dinner.
