GRANA here;
Well we finally ran out of homemade cookies & had to bake some .Hubby made lunch for both of us, freeing me up to bake 6 dozen oatmeal cookies [ whole grain whole weat  flour &  old fashioned oats.] brown sugar raisins semi-swet morsels &  chopped pecans ;soft& chewy  really  yummy .I used the recipe on a box of oatmeal(store's own brand) &  made a few substitutions ( using more whole gains&  a sugar substitute baking blend; soft margarine + extra canola oil to get the oil content high enough for successful cookies ;I wrote it all down  &  plan to use it again next time, perhaps w/only raisins  & wlnuts since I 'm now out of morsels
Even w/ the morsels one small cookie = one FREE ITEM for diabetics [ carb-wise] Of course hubby  must have 3 cookies w/ 1/2 glass of skim milk = 2 starch exchanges the amount he's allowed  for a snack( mid morning; mid afternoon or at bedtime.
His glucose readings &  yearly A1C have been so good  that his diabetes doc reduced his meds w/ the ultimate goal of no more  meds for diabetes control; a huge annual
$$$  savings if it  happens as hoped
Cool

Tomorrow - second Sunday of the month - it's my turn to take treats to Junior Church.  Usually I take cookies but tomorrow I'm taking decorated peppermint sticks.   I bought boxes and boxes of the short, soft sticks and dipped about 1/2 - 1/3 of each one in melted chocolate chips.  I sprinkled each one with lots of red, white and pink sprinkles.  I think they'll make a hit with the kids.

GRANA here;
I used the microwave oven to bake the  dressing( stuffing casserole) & the yam. I cooked  the poultry cutltets  in a skillet w/ butter, garlic & herbs..... No oven bking panned anytime this week; hubby bought  cream filled sandwich cookies which should keep him occupied as will my homemade  soft& chewy  deluxe oatmeal  cookies ( still some left 'cuz I put only 3 out each day for hubby...I'm out of whole wheat flour & cannot bake more till we get some
;I never use A.P flour, preferring whole grain cookies when  I make the effort Innocent

Oh, Judy --- I look to you as the expert.  I just do it a lot - LOL LOL
Does it have to be cookies?  Would candy work?
A gorgeous, delicious cookie (a lot of work like unwrapping all the candy) is:

CARAMEL-FILLED CHOCOLATE COOKIES
4 doz...  375* ... ungreased  ... 7 to 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup margarine or butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans
48 Rolo® Chewy Caramels unwrapped (from 13-oz. pkg.)
1 tablespoon sugar
4 oz. vanilla-flavored candy coating, if desired

DIRECTIONS:
In medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa and baking soda; mix well.
In large bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, brown sugar and margarine;
beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; beat well. Add flour
mixture; blend well. Stir in 1/2 cup of the pecans. If necessary, cover
with plastic wrap; refrigerate 30 minutes for easier handling.
Heat oven to 375°F. For each cookie, with floured hands, shape
about 1 tablespoon dough around 1 caramel candy, covering completely.
In small bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup pecans and 1 tablespoon sugar.
Press one side of each ball into pecan mixture. Place, nut side up,
2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375°F. for 7 to 10 minutes or until set and slightly cracked.
Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets. Cool on wire rack for
15 minutes or until completely cooled.
Melt candy coating in small saucepan over low heat, stirring
until smooth. Drizzle over cookies.

...............................................
SNICKERS BAR COOKIES
350* - ungreased - 12-14 minutes - 4 Doz. cookies
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 brown sugar
2 stick butter softened
2 beaten eggs
1 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
3 cups flour
*14 oz bag of mini Snickers Candy bars (use Milky Way, Butterfinger - anything you like)
Instructions say to cut candy bars in half.  I don't, I use whole
Mix everything as usual.  I divide the dough into 48 balls then roll dough around a candy bar.
Make certain the dough "seals" in the candy bar and forms a little ball.   I sprinkle each ball with a
tiny amount of cocoa, confectioners sugar, finely chopped peanuts, whatever I want.
Bake at 350* on ungreased sheet 12-14 minutes or until a light golden brown.

I think the choc chunk oatmeal will be made.  I found a recipe in the food section of the paper for a chocolate studded sugar cookie.  The dough is made into logs and frozen to be sliced and baked at a later time.  I made the dough yesterday and will bake some tomorrow.  Will let you know how they are.

Tough for me to decide whether or not to bake cookies, since our daughter-in-law has been diagnosed with diabetes.  I'm torn because I usually make certain favorite cookies - like Grandma used to bake such as date pinwheels and raisin-filled, but I know that would be tempting for Darlene.  I plan to have lots of cheese and celery for snacking, too.  I think the others would appreciate cookies.  Guess I'll try and please everyone!!
