Wow, just reading all these posts is making me drool...thanks a lot, you guys!  Guess I'll have to get busy and make the egg-nog snickerdoodle cookies that are next on my list to bake...

       Nothing in the oven today,I think I'll hit the self cleaning button and get the oven ready for some heavy duty baking and cooking over the next two weeks.

Oh, too funny Nancy lol I usually do it the first of each month,but I have to do it when my husband is working he says he doesn't like the smell.He's been coming home early and I haven't been able to get it done.I think he needs to work more.lol make that money so I can spend it.

Having a self cleaning oven is a blessing no matter how it smells. It's like a dish washer.
I wish I had an automatic floor cleaner, push-button dusting, a self cleaning toilet..............

RIGHT NOW; theonly thing in my oven is the lingering aroma of chocolate wafers/crisps cookies& fudge brownies....Ibaked 4 dozen of  them (crisp cookies) while bakling a pan of  fudge brownies, earlier this afternoon.
I like to keep them around. When hubby has a brownie or two w/ his cuppa, I can grab a wafer & get my chocolate" fix" w/o overdoing my fat or carb intake. When hubby, a dabetic, overloads on pasta or bread; he an stil have" a ookie' since one is a "FREE ITEM"  [ less than 5 GM 9 in adozenofthem) nghow a small crispy chocolate ookie w/ a cuppa coffee can free  life  from  the feeling of
chocolate deprivation.

and I forgot to say .......... In My Oven right now are mint brownies.  They made such a big hit at church last month that I'm making them again.
The second Sunday of every month is my turn to take a treat to two small groups of little kids.

Hi NANCY ; Nice words; but to what are you refering?[strength & dedication, to what?I've only posted brags on my dedication to good food & the"JOYS  OF COOKING"There's little enough I can still do & coking& baking arestill possible.Ican stil clean up after  cooking; but hubby, now retired & home  feels it's" his part of   "iti  to do the dishes after mealtimes.
 
I do cleanup  " as I  go" as taught in J.H.S. home economics class; so while there's not a lot  ( cleanup)for him to do, it surely is  appreciated, by me,( thathe does what he does to help  me

Sometime late yesterday I made the dough for the Mexican Wedding Cake cookies ... I hope I can get to that stuff sometime this afternoon.
I wonder if I'll get to church this morning .... oh, it's snowing.  TV news is warning about black ice and lots of dangerous slick roads.

I made a fruitcake using Eagle Brand Milk and it was so good.  I will not use as much candied cherries in the next one, though, because it was sort of gooey near the middle but still very good.  I love cooking and especially around the holidays.  It would be so nice to be able to eat anything I wanted and NOT gain any weight but I wasn't blessed with that.

Hi Nikki p...

I mix together oil, Hidden Valley Ranch dressing (dry). garlic powder, dill weed and lemon pepper and then add broken hard pretzels.  Toss real good so the pretzels are coated and then bake.  OMG are they yummy...you cannot eat just one!  LOL 

That would be a good name for the new recipe!  Try it out and let me know how it gets...I hope you will share your new recipe called Sticks & Stones! Smile
