I am baking Nestle Toll House cookies -- I don't own a kitchen aide mixer, so when I make these I always feel so accomplished having done all that tough stirring of the dry into the wet ingredients!!  I feel like  a cookie "warrior".  I find that the cookies come out best when I make sure the dough is chilled.  Last week I baked a batch that came out so flat & I believe it was b/c the butter got too soft & the dough was too mushy.  Can't go wrong with these cookies...going to wrap some up for a neighbor who is feeling sad today....

KAREN --- welcome to VBB.  We're glad to have you :)     I am blessed with a Kitchen Aide but I STILL make mistakes (forget the baking soda and such - lol)
Do you have a favorite cooking recipe you could share with us?

Welcome, Karen.  Seems like Toll House is everybody's favorite cookie.  Stirring in all the dry ingredients is really a work out.

Welcome.
I never refrigerated cookie dough, never wanted to wait that long for cookies.  But I found a great recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies and after going through that recipe I decided I would follow their directions and refrigerate the dough.  Well what do you know they turned out great so I have been doing that when I make those cookies but I still can't bring myself to do that when I make other cookies.
I suppose if I got into the habit of making the dough and putting it in the refrigerator while I was cleaning up that just might work.

Some butter does have more water in it and it is possible that you got a batch of butter that contained a bit more water than normal.  Entirely possible if you got another brand of butter.

Again welcome.  Do hope you will share recipes.
