My mother made this cake often and I have also.  Everyone likes it.

OLD FASHIONED 1-2-3-4 CAKE

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.  Mix ingredients in a large bowl with hand mixer.  Pour into prepared pan.  Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until done.

You can also use this to make cupcakes.

Cupcakes:  Line muffin pans with muffin/cupcake liners (paper or foil which ever you use) and fill 2/3 full.  Bake in 375 degree oven for almost 20 minutes or until tests done.

My mother used to put raisins in this.

Hope you enjoy.

Oh, this brings back fond memories! My grandmother used to make this for us when we would spend the night "vacationing" at her house!

My Mom used to make this cake too!  I didn't find it in her recipe box. Some of her recipes she didn't
write down because they were so easy.  Thank you Marie!!  I have printed this one.

I haven't heard of a 1-2-3-4 cake before.  It is certainly straight forward and easy to understand.

Old Fashioned! It must be good because it sounds simple and delicious. What about dried cranberries instead of raisins?

Angela:  I'm sure that would be fine.  Could probably add other things. Maybe chocolate chips or nuts ?????I never tried adding other thngs, but I'm pretty sure it could be done.  Also can add icing or powdered sugar.

An oldie but definetly goodie.  My mother made this also.  She usually made the cake plain but often served it with fruit - berries or peaches.
i haven't made it in a while, thanks for the prompt!
