New Year Traditions

What are some of your New Year traditions? We welcome the year in with money in our pockets so we won't be broke in the new year. I put money in my bible. Of course you have the noise to chase off the evil spirits but what are some others? I am cooking the black eye peas now. And going to have roast pork tomorrow.

I ended the year by donating blood. I sat down and the woman that was reviewing my form looked at me and congratulated me. I said for what. She said I have donated 50 pints of blood and have donated platelets 31 times. So I have decided that this is a great way to end the year. I may make this a "tradition" for myself. It should bring luck to someone! Or according to Lifesource 3 people from my donation.
So for anyone that has been the recipient of plasma or blood....I wish you continued health.
to anyone thinking about donating......do it, you get cookies and juice...and the wonderful feeling that you may have saved a life.

Yeah, I just hope no one getting my blood has a chocolate allergy, or they don't mind getting a sugar rush!

We don't do anything special for New Years. We eat on the ham and turkey left over from Thanksgiving and Christmas. My husband likes black eyed peas but I don't.

Hi Nancy,The pork and sauerkraut,is only a News Years tradition,but what better way to enjoy good old fashion cooking.My News Years resolution is to pay more attention to the Serenity Prayer.

We don't do any thing special for the New Year holiday. This is the first year my husband is home!! That's special enough for me!!

No, no new year traditions. We stay home watch the ball drop on TV. DH in the past has fired off his dad's gun, but thank goodness has stopped.

Our New Years tradition is to watch the Rose Parade on TV. I was born and raised in Southern California, and to attend or watch the parade on TV was a must!! The rest of the day is spent on football. However, this year there is no Pac 10 team in the Rose Bowl which is a real bummer and breaks all traditions!!!!!

"THE PARADE" is on right now; but here I am at this machine. As for tradition, we always have pork ribs, sauerkraut, cabbage, and mashed potatoes. There goes the diet!! Happy New Year to all who visit this site!! Hopefully, the economy will strengthen and it will all be well and good for everyone!
