We use a gas grill and usually grill on weekends in our condo in Hot  Springs, AR.

Mary Ann S ..... can I ask WHERE in your condo area you grill?   I used my front driveway and I was NOT comfortable -- it was just too public.

I have a deck in the back but it's just 8 x 10 and 12 feet off the ground -- no steps.   I was afraid to set a fire (!!!) that close to the wall.  Now I'm more confident and will drag the grill through the condo, out on the deck ...... and I'll be VERY, VERY careful.

Oh, how I love and appreciate the hints and help I get here.

Nancy:  Sorry I didn't reply sooner.  Was not on for about a week or so.  What I do is this:

I cut off  a little of the stem of the mushroom and then I wash the mushroom. I mix a mixture of various spices.  I don't measure any of it, just shake in a llttle of this and a little of that.  It is my own concoction.  I put in things like parsley, oregano, basil, garlic powder, black pepper and add olive oil.  You can add any kind of spices you like.  (Recently I purchased Mrs. Dash's Italian Medley Salt Free and also
Mrs. Dash's Garlic and Herb Salt Free.  Used both of them at different times instead of mixing my own.  Just added the olive oil and they were good.)  I put them on the grill with the stem down and brush the olive oil mixture on top and immediately turn them over and do the same to the other side.  I leave them on for about 6 minutes and turn them over for another 6 minutes.  NOTE:  I am doing this on an eletric grill so you will have to judge for yourself on your grill. All together I cook them for about 12 minutes, 6 minutes on each side.
Hope you like them.  Let me know if you try them.  enjoy!!!  If you have any questions, let me know.

Thank you Marie -- Oh, how I appreciate a recipe with directions!!
Everything cooked on a grill is new to me.
Next time I plan to BBQ I'll get a portabella and try it.

Marie -- I wanted and planned to try a portabella but forgot all about it ... good grief........
And last night I BBQ'd some really great pork steak.  Wouldn't portabellas been good with that?
I WILL try them soon and I'll let you know how it went.

Hi Marie, I love grilled portabella mushrooms. We eat them just like a burger, with garlic, butter and seasoning and a piece of provalone cheese.on a toasted bun.

I  own a Weber Smokey Joe Grill. I purchased this grill 5 years ago. I use crumbled newspaper and a match with regular charcoal. I purchased my grill at Home Depot. Before I purchased this grill I did research because I had never used a grill before. I read the booklet that came with the grill and followed directions .I am comfortable using it now. I Plank cook on it. I clean it after each use I am glad I purchased  it. Try Plank Cooking on your Grill.

I BBQ'd a gorgeous steak last night but, of course, had forgotten the portabella.
I hope to grill some pork chops tomorrow night ..... I'll get to WalMart and get one.
