I try to stock up whenever anything goes on sale.  That is a help on the budget.

Gosh!  I miss one day of being on the computer, and all sorts of things have happened.   John, I am so happy to hear of the progress you are making.  Keep it up and work hard at your physical therapy!!
I always try to serve the cookies I make for an event in a special way.  I  use a lot of doilies to dress up plates.  There is a party store near us and sometimes I can find colored ones in the right sizes.  I think the basket idea is great!!  I have several baskets hanging around that would be appropriate.  I used to send baskets of goodies to my kids when they were in college.  Actually my husband would drop them off on his way to Sacramento ( both our kids went to U.C. Davis).  Anyway I have some baskets left over from that. ( they always sent them back home to be refilled)
Nancy, the recipes look very interesting.  I just made one of the Easter cookies on the site for my granddaughter's dance competition.  They are called "Chocolatey NestEgg Shortbread Cookies.  I used a white chocolate drizzle instead of the glaze.

Barbara - just this morning in the little local grocery (that has the best fried chicken you ever tasted - lol) I saw some Easter baskets -- the largest one was $6.99.  It was a bit smaller than I wanted but it was OK and I dropped it in my basket.  Then ran into a friend from church and we talked Easter baskets .... . she said I could find many, all sizes and all colors, at Goodwill over in the next town.
I can get there before Easter and if I find one make a nice, clean fabric liner for it.   And if I don't find one I'll still be near a Michaels and I know I can find one there.
Now I have to go look at  Chocolatey NestEgg Shortbread Cookies.  Thanks

Fran -- THANK YOU!!  Thanks for that lovely photo of the basket full of cookies.  What a great idea.   I'll be taking a load of cookies to my church's Easter dinner.  I always put my cookies in a giant plastic bowl or just load a 9x13 alumnium cake pan.  Now, thanks to your great little photo I'm going to be looking for a great big Easter basket.  I'll line that with plastic wrap, fill it with cookies and add a giant bow on the side.   Won't that be nice? Now I have to start looking for a basket. Next Sunday night we're having a celebration for a young man's graduation. Yesterday, in my drug store, I found a h uge , bright red, semi-clear plastic bowl.  It's price tag was $17.99 and had been marked down over and over to $3 !!

So glad the photo gave you an idea for Easter, you can use the basket all year by changing the ribbon & even using a napkin for the liner in different colors. If you have any $ stores near by, check them out. Several years ago I found some nice wicker basket for $1.00 & I spray painted the outside (one son has 4 kids & I wanted each to have their favorite color). I made each kid a small goodie basket for Easter & then told them to use the baskets for their crayons etc.  they really liked them(3 were boys) I was told that 1 basket held matchbox cars.

I went to the store & remembered to check the bulk section for the pecans to make the cookies & sadly did not buy the nuts, they were on sale for $7.99# & the bin was almost empty. I was not paying that much for nuts that might have been there from Dec. so I guess I will pay for the pre bagged ones.

Fran - I was trying to buy a bag of pecans almost every time I went to WalMart - When I got home I wrote the expiration/best by date with a big Sharpie marker and tossed them into the correct section of the freezer.   I haven't saved a dime - I just hope I have them in stock as the prices climb.   Now I'm concerned about having too many too long.   I wish I didn't like pecans so much.

Elsa - I'm planning on getting to Goodwill this week.  But I've not thought of using spray paint - thank you.  Are colors like pink or pale yellow available in spray paint?  Wish me luck - I need a BIG basket.

Nancy, the pecans will keep past the exp.date since you have them in the freezer.  I find it very hard to buy something that is not on sale Money mouth, I might not always use a couon, but 95% of items I buy are on sale.  I rarely run out of the things we use. I did have a close call 2 weeks agoWink, hubby was down to 2 coffee filters, but I had a reusable filter that he forgot about & he used it once & then the coffee filters were on sale(I know I did not save much, but it is like a game to me)so I bought 2 packs (400 filters will last the rest of the year),I use them in my planters, to hold the paint brush handle if I am staining & other things.

Fran -- using a coffee filter on a paint brush handle is a WONDERFUL idea!  Thank you.  Boy, that's an idea I'll be using a lot.

And I make a lot of white chip cookies ... I just use the regular recipe with my choice of chip flavors and nuts.
Want to try a really great white chip recipe?  Try the " White Chip Island Cookie "  you can find right here.

Carol .... I'm so concerned about the price of nuts that I've been stocking up.   I also have lots of cocoa, chocolate chips, unsweetened chocolate ... everything like that.    How can I continue my cookie baking if the prices continue going up?? Good grief - I don't need another cookie as long as I live.  I do need to continue baking and giving.

Hi Melissa -- Welcome to VBB.
Isn't it fun to "give" our baked stuff?
hee hee .... almost as much fun as eating it!!
I'm not familiar with Winco .... you're fortunate to have a place that's good for stocking up.
What's your favorite cookie recipe?
