Move over chocolate, vanilla is about to join you on the poor crop ladder.

Just heard on the news that Vanilla will be going up due to poor crops of vanilla beans & vanilla is the #1 flavor for ice cream so look for an increase of about 10% soon.

I will stock up on vanilla extract, how about you?

Everything is going up again We are going to have to go to more gardening to feed our familys.
It can't go up any more you would think.I don't know how we are going to make it. Thank God if
you have a job. I am retired and gave my job to a young person that needed it.

I'm not surprised when anything rises in price.  Just read recently that one more of the airlines are charging $35.00 when you CARRY ON a case for the overhead compartment!  That is in ADDITION to the $35-50 for one bag that you check through.  What do you suppose they will think of next.  Went PAST a gas station this morning.....$3.99.9 per gallon!!  Time to get a bicycle!!!

Be careful if you buy extra vanilla extract.  Long storage can alter the flavor.  Alcohol can evaporate and give an "off" flavor.
If you want to save even more money "splurge" and get a few vanilla beans and make your own vanilla extract.  Split the vanilla beans and put them in a bottle of vodka.  Allow to just infuse the vodka with the vanilla flavor. Store in a cool dark location.

Hi FRAN M; GRANA here;
I already have  Qt of vanilla extract in my pantry and am consideing buying another before  the prices soar.I use it in all my cookies except forrALMOND COOKIES;even/ especially my  fudge brownies Our  fave iceceam flavor is the versatile  vanilla beanI I expect that  flavor to become scarce or too high priced, they cannotuse artificial favor in that particlar flavor it needs the black  specks of genuine vanilla beans.I'[m notgingto worry about t yet.....I stocked up onPB when prices were expected to go up & they are still as hey were before that NEWS broke
Pb is more important to our diets than vanilla, so I'll  just take the chance
