This recipe is old:
One and a half cups Butter, softened
3 cups Sugar
4 teaspoons Pure lemon extract
5 Large eggs
3 cups all-Purpose flour
6 ounces/three-fourths cup 7UP
Combine butter,sugar and extract in a large bowl; beat until light and fluffy.Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour, mixing well. Stir in 7 Up. Spoon into a well greased tube or Bundt pan. Bake at 325 1 hour and 25 minutes. Test after and hour . Cool on a wire rack 10 minutes.

Maxine - Thank you for the recipe, it sounds very similar to one that my Mom used to make when I was young. She would make it in a tube pan and if I remember correctly she would use a citrus powdered sugar glaze. Isn't it amazing how we use a recipe so frequently, then less and less and finally it isn't used at all? I think I need to go through my Mom's handwritten cookbooks a bit more to find some of my childhood favorites.
