I have my beads out already. Found them while cleaning out a closet trying to make room for coin collection boxes. Now all I have to do is pray I will be feeling up to putting on a show. I'll start calling tomorrow I guess, see if anybody is available.

Smile Just be careful John ! I think I might try to make a Kings cake this year.I found a recipe I don't have a plastic baby but you can also use a bean.Who ever finds the baby in their piece of cake is suppose to bring or make the next years King cake.It is decorated with Mari Gras colors gold, green and purple.

I thought the "baby" in the cake was supposed to bring you good luck.  That is not what that means?

I have never been to Mardi Gras.  I don't think I would like it much, I am not fond of huge crowds and I think at this point it would confuse my husband so much that it would be a nightmare.
May celebrate here with some Gumbo and the fixins' I think my grandson would have a good time.
There is a restaurant in Chicago that I love and I just may go there for lunch.

Who is going to catch the beads?.....
Ok, enough Mardi Gras colors, the Gold does not show well anyway.  The restaurant in Chicago is a office building restaurant but the owner loves the Creole and Cajun food so much that he worked for a while with Paul Prudhome (worked in the kitchen free just to get the experience.)  Came back and offered a few items and by word of mouth it just took off.  Heaven on 7 has expanded and the food is wonderful.  I still like the original place the best.  Just might have to plan a lunch trip.
Making a Kings Cake sounds like a plan.

Ephiphany--January 6th is when we enjoy this cake. It is called the Three Kings Cake because it is when the Wise Men arrived to give gifts to Jesus.

Hope all works out well for you with the Mardi Gras, John.

Have never been to a Mardi Gras.  Too late for that now.  My husband could never handle it.

Those of you who are celebrating with a party, let us know how it turns out.

Well the party was small so everyone got a LOT of beads and chow to take home. It was also the first time ever I had nothing to clean up as all in attendance insisted on cleaning the house as well as after party garbage. So nice of them I was in tears after they left.Embarassed

John, What a great party!!! You are lucky to have friends that clean up and take care of
the garbage too!!! I bet you had a great time. You are blessed to have friends like that.
I would be in tears too if that had happened to me!!
