THANKS. YES I THINK WE ARE GOING TO MAKE A TOY BOX ON ITS SIDE WITH TOYS IN IT, OR A DUCK POND USING YELLOW AND PINK CANDY DUCKS..I HAVE NOT DECIDED YET. I HAVE TO MAKE A FANCY ADULT MASQARADE CAKE FOR MY SISTER.I'AM THANKING ABOUT MAKING THE MASK OUT OF FONDANT, COLORING THEM WITH FINE SUGAR, BRIGHT COLORS. ALSO CUPCAKE SCARECROW FOR KIDS PARTY.

I can't even IMAGINE that much frosting. 40 lb!! I can't imagine making 20 lb. Congratulations to you :)

i made it in batches ,3 batches. my kitchen aid mixer was a wedding gift, it is 28 yrs. old. i was going to make more but gave her a break. i think it was heating up. my kids gave me a new one several years ago.i used it a few times.
making frosting is easy.you need to sift the conf.sugar. i take the butter out soft to touch. not to soft.
i've made frosting from scratch for so long. i play it by ear or sight. i use 3 sticks butter,at least a 2 pound bag of conf. sugar. beat butter slightly, put in several spoonful of sugar. remember to turn off.i keep doing this, adding several table spoonful of milk. i end with flavoring.scrap down sides, mix again.if you want it thinner use more milk. i use almond flavoring when i frosting a chocolate cake.
cover in bowl in fridge...mix again once you take out of fridge. my son an i like to put back in mixer to soften. no i'am not a professional,i have been making cakes for a long time.i love to do it. i've won many blue ribbons in contest.

i also use the rice krispie treat recipe to make balls or shapes.i've done that for years. i saw the cake boss does the same.it makes for a great base, it is strong. plus it works well making shapes. i love trying new things. i even make sketches of what i want it to look like.also idea on what would work the best. practice makes perfect.it is okay to fail, as long as you learn from it. i need ti get back to the cakes

Sounds like you really enjoy doing all this stuff. I love homemade frosting. When i was a kid my friends mom made this homemade cake with homemade frosting.It was heaven,You could smell it a mile away. She always gave us a piece,when it was warm.Also a glass of ice cold milk.Just thinking about this brings bake memories.Brillant idea with the rice treats.It would hold its shape and it taste great.

I USED ALL BUT A CUP OF THE FROSTING BETWEEN THE SHOWER CAKE, WHICH WAS WHITE FROSTING, PINK TRIM AND CANDY DUCKS GOING AROUND THE CAKE. YELLOW, PINK AND WHITE DUCKS.
I ALSO USED FROSTING, MADE TONS OF ORANG AND BLACK FOR THE 100'S OF CUPCAKES AND COOKIES WE DECORATED FOR THE HALLOWEEN WALK. EVERYONE LOVED THE HOMEMADE FROSTING. REAL SUGAR RUSH. IT TASTE BEST ON A DEEP CHOCOLATE CAKE OR CUPCAKE....HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL....
