In Response to Re: Homemade Maple Flavored Syrup:
When I was growing up we didn't get to the store very often -- gas rationing, money etc so we made a lot of things at home including syrup. Maple was good but mom also made fruit syrups.  Sometimes that had a homemade jelly base but I don't remember what she did to convert jelly to the right consistency for syrup for pancakes or french toast.

Hi Fran,I made a batch of apple jelly that did not set and that is how we use that as a syrup.I'll have to check that out.I would just heat it a little and it should melt to the consistency of a syrup. When I make the stuffed french toast the jelly melts like a syrup.
