2 cups of berries your choice, strawberries, blueberries etc,2 cups of sugar,2/3 cup of water, juice of one lemon.Wash and process the berries in a blender or food processor, place berry puree, sugar and water in a sauce pan.Cook over a medium heat for 1/2 hr.Stir occasionally. When finished cooking remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. This can be strained if desired.Pour and store in a sterilized Qt. jar store in refrigerator. Can be stored up to 6 months. I think this would be great over ice cream, pound cake or what ever you think it would be good on.I used it the other day on crepes.I first filled the crepes with sweetened ricotta, rolled them up poured a little blueberry syrup on and finished with a dollop of whipped cream.Enjoy!

i make syrup out of chockcherry here in Nebraska. They grow wild here.
You have to cook them until tender and run them through a sieve.
You can then can the juice and make the jelly or syrup later. Use pen gel
and sugar and a little lemon juice. You need to cook slow so not to burn.
Boil the mixture for 3 to 5 minutes shorter if you want syrup.

We had French toast for dinner tonight and finished the blueberry syrup.I've  had it in the fridge for a couple weeks and it wasn't gritty,it stayed nice and smooth.I did warm it it the microwave. My family liked it very much.I may make strawberry next time.

We would have so much fun if we were all together. It's getting to be that time for my neighbors dessert party, she owns a bakery and every year she has her dessert party in the summer at her house, then we have another in February at her bakery, some times it's a make your own pizza ,this last winter it was a soup party.

Gale...

I remember when you went to the one in Feb.; what a neat thing to do!  I had an elderly friend that was like a Mom to me; she moved several months ago and I miss her.  Even at my old age, there were tips that I learned from her and when we tried new recipes, we would share.  What great memories!

Hi Susan,my Mom passed away 15 years ago and I miss her so much! She taught me all I know about cooking and baking. We cooked together all the time or she was there to answer any questions that I had.No matter how old we get there is always something new to learn. Our block party is coming up.I bought a couple of Hobo pie makers for our block party. It uses two pieces of bread and pie filling,I thought the kids would have fun with those.I also found these long sticks made out of metal that will hold two hot dogs or several marshmallows, the price was right 2/$1 so I bought ten of those for the kids also, each one will go home with one,I just hope they don't start sword fighting with them. lol.
