Nikki, I read your post about an easier version of puff pastry. Please post.
You said it was in an old Betty Crocker Cookbook. Which one?
I have quite a stash of cookbooks dating back to the early 50's. I could never part with one of my cookbooks when a new version came out so my collection continued to grow over the years. I have finally made me quit buying new ones! It has been difficult. But if I ever have to move - oh my! my cookbook collection will be a project in itself.
I'm not sure my heirs would consider it a treasure.

well, I LOVE to make divinity, fudge, candied pecans - stuff like that.

I did not see any rules about old posts being bumped, so forgive me if this is not allowed.

I saw some requests for my recipes on here... LOL! I have so many I think I lost track of who wanted what, but I did see a request for my Thriple Threats, so I'll post that one! If I missed a request for one, please let me know! (Just a note, these are recipes I developed, but they are very simmilar to Nestle's! I did a lot of tweaking and research on cookies before I got this one!)
Coming right out of my recipe book!

Plain Cookie Base	By Jenn F.
Ingredients	Directions
2 ¼ c all-purpose flour	In a small mixing bowl, combine flour, soda, and salt. Mix well. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Gradually add dry ingredients mixing well to create thick dough. Add nuts by hand. Vanilla Cookie Base variation: Add 1 c melted vanilla chips with the vanilla.Chocolate Cookie Base variation: Add 2/3 c baking cocoa to the dry ingredients.
1 t baking soda
¼ t salt
1 c butter
¾ c granulated sugar
2/3 c brown sugar
1 t vanilla
2 eggs
1 c nuts, opt.

For the Triple Threats you will need the Chocolate cookie base and 2-3 c total any type of chip. I typically use semi-sweet, milk chocolate and the swirled ones that are white chocolate and semi-sweet. BUT I have also used dark chocolate and white chocolate as well.

This recipe actually has a story. I had some left over chips from other cookies and projects. I thought about it, and decided to make a chocolate base, then throw in what chips I had left. These are always a bit different, but they are really good!! I don't use more than 3 types because I did that once and it was too much flavor!!

we could reallly use some more cookie recipes. What's the name of your recipe
book? These look like great cookie bases!

WOW! Ladies I am soooo sorry that I missed the request to post the short cut version of puff pastry. Please forgive me. Here it is

Streamlined Puff Pastry Dough.
1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
1/2 Cup sour cream
Cut butter into flour until completely mixed. Stir in sour cream until blended.
Divide dough in half and wrap each in plastic wrap.
Chill at least 8 hours.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Roll pastry on well floured board.
Cut as directed in recipe. Chill scraps before re rolling.
For Napoleons.
Roll half the pastry into a rectangle 12X10 inches. Cut into 15 rectangles, 4X2 each.
Brush with a mixture of 3 Tb sugar and 1 Tb water.
Place on cookie sheet and bake 15 to 18 minutes or until light brown. Repeat with second half of dough.
Cool completely.
Mix 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 Tb milk; spread on 10 of the rectangles.
Drizzle 1 ounce of melted semi sweet chocolate on the frosted rectangles.
For the filling:
Prepare 1 package (4 serving size) of chocolate instant pudding as directed on package EXCEPT- substitute 1/2 Cup sour cream for 1/2 Cup of the milk.
Assembly:
Put 3 rectangles together with 1 Tablespoon of the pudding mixture between each layer. Top layer should be the frosted rectangle.

I make these smaller than directed so they are just 1 bite if they are for a party. Full size for sit down dinner.
Just easier when you are using fingers at a party.
For Jam Filled Tarts Roll each half of dough 1/16 thick; cut into 2 inch shapes. Cut a small hole in the center of half the shapes. Brush with a mixture of 3 Tb sugar and 1 Tb water; place on top of plain shapes. Fill hole with 1/2 tsp of jam. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet about 20 minutes. About 3 dozen tartlets.
