HM I was hoping that you would share your recipe for sausage with barley and mushrooms? I love barley. I eat it for breakfast a lot of the time just like hot oatmeal.

Count me in with the group that would like the recipe.  I love barley and adding sausage and mushrooms could only make it better.

Sorry to be so late in replying.  Here's what I used:

8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 cup cooked barley(I used some beef bullion in the water when I cooked it)
2 italian sausage links, cooked and sliced thinly
1TBS butter or margarine

Saute mushrooms in butter until lightly browned.  Add cooked barley and sausage and heat through. ( I added a small amount of water just so it wouldn't stick to the pan.)

Thanks for the barley recipe.  When we were kids and my father worked second shift so he wasn't home for supper, my mother would make us barley.  We had it with butter and milk.  I remember once she was cooking it in the pressure sauce pan to make ;it go faster, forgot to check the pressure gauge and it blew off sending barley water to the ceiling.  This was an older house with 12 foot ceilings.  To this day, my siser and I joke about barley on the ceiling.

Judy, I thought I was the only one that ate barley like that! I joke about my old house and the tall ceilings but my jokes are about "the fancy lace work" that spiders like to do for me considering I'm 4 feet 11 inches and I have to beg for help. Did it take forever to clean up the mess? Smile
