Thanks for reminding me of this recipe! My Grandmother used to make these, so this brings back fond memories of her.

This recipe can be changed to your liking ,more onions, bacon, ground beef or ground turkey Different beans can be used also. It's a good side dish or as the main meal.

Hi Vicki,I'm glad you liked it.I use a ton of onions in everything. They are so tasty.I will go through 3-6 lbs a week when I'm cooking.I just haven't felt much like cooking since my hubby passed away.My heart just isn't in it.Maybe after we move I can get excited about cooking and baking again.

I have made these before.  I change the beans a bit I am not a fan of Lima beans and I have used more kidney beans or pinto beans in place of them and the garbanzo beans.
And you are right Vicki you don't have to cook for days.  This makes a lot of beans but they taste so darn good!

Gale - Thank you for this recipe.  My Mom used to make this quite a bit when I was growing up and I couldn't find the recipe in her books after she passed away.  I can hardly wait to make this for my family.

Gale I hope you can get cooking again. It's seemed like it's something that you liked to do. I'm thinking of you.
