A very good friend made some fruitcake at Christmas.  I am the first to admit that I HATE fruitcake!  But this fruitcake was fantastic.  I will get the recipe and post it for you as soon as possible.  I want to make some myself.  There were 2 versions a Bourbon one and a second batch she made with Rum.  I did not get to try the Rum one but I think I would use Amaretto, I think the almond flavor would enhance the fruit and nuts in the mixture.
