I was sitting and talking to a friend over her kitchen table. She quit smoking recently and now eats those flavored nut butters. From the jar. With a spoon. I told that's just one bad thing for another and laughed at her whereupon she crossed her eyes and went to get more. :) Anyway I was thinking about the flavored butters and what I could make with those. Nutella is so good but now i see peanut butter companies are starting to take the lead & are making some others. So I'm wondering what could I make with those... thought it might be fun to see how many of us could get creative ideas! I've got hot cereal, rice pudding, homemade ice cream...oven baked French toast... Smile

I love Cashew Nut butter and Almond Butter.  I like these just as is.
Hazelnut butter I only think of as Nutella or other flavor like that.  (the brand from Aldi's has been known to jump in to my cart.)
I recently saw an ad for a nut butter with coconut and I have not been able to find it.
I have been tempted to get one of the other flavored ones, I saw a Mocha one the other day and I was tempted but I don't like coffee enough to possibly ruin a whole jar.

There is a recipe on thins site for making your own version of Nutella and I would imagine you could follow the same instructions and use any variety of unflavored nut butter.
If I recall it is just melting the chocolate chips and the nut butter together. I will look for the name of it as I think I have it in my recipe box.

My previous post has not appeared yet so here is the Name of the recipe.
Chocolate Nut Butter Spread.
2 Cups Semi sweet Chocolate Chips.
1 Cup Natural style Almond, Cashew, Hazelnut, Peanut Butter.
Stir the nut butter.
Melt together the chocolate chips and nut butter.

That is pretty much the basic recipe.
I bet that changing the flavor of the chips would work also. (Butterscotch, Dark chips  I think would be heavenly, Milk chocolate could be used but I think that might be a bit sweet.

I also think that making a nut butter would be good.  Macadamia nut, sunflower seeds are often used as a replacement for peanut butter so I bet that would work.

My oldest son has a recipe for cookies using nutella.  I have to admit I was hesitant to try nutella, but after tasting his cookies, I tried nutella on my toast and it is wonderful.  I really like the recipe that Nikki posted  for chocolate  nut butter spread - I will have to try that.  Just think of the combinations you could come up with - yum!

Our Target has a few nut butters, and Trader Joe's has some flavored nut butters. I haven't tried any because I'm afraid I'd like them too much, and I must resist all that fat!!!

Vicki, congratulations on losing weight! This has been a constant struggle for me nearly my entire life. But in the past 10-12 years I have learned about and follow portion control, I work out on a regular basis, and remember to treat myself with one of my high calorie passions on occasion. I finally lost that "last 10 pounds" over the past 3 years, and am now working on an additional 5 pounds for a cushion!

Thank you Verlee. It was only 40 lbs but in a family where everyone is tubby it's really something because it encouraged my sister to try harder too. You are smart to keep a "cushion" of 5 lbs! You could do what Nikki and I did. We have pants from sizes past! Mine is a reminder of never again will I see that 40! Of course, come to think of it, I will never see that other 40 (age) either! Smile

I bought and loved the new chocolate hazelnut spread from Jif. Two loving spoonfuls ate sooo slowly!  :)
