Thanks for sharing Gale.  What a wonderful memory.  When I was young my parents used to go to the farm and buy a pig(we split it with the neighbors who were also related to us).  They used to make smoked hams, bacon, sausage and roasts from that side of pork.

After the hams were smoked, Dad would hang them in the basement.  It was great going downstairs, cutting off a hunk of ham and having a sandwich lol.  Don't think I could handle that now but I do still make homemade sausage once or twice a year.  Great memories stay with us all of our lives.

Tuna on fresh picked lettuce, my grandmother always let us go in the garden and pick some lettuce. Fresh cucumber and tomato from the garden with a little salt and pepper or mayo if you prefer like my mom. Just a nice cold sandwich on a hot day when you don't feel up to cooking!
