In Response to Re: FAVORITE PICKLING RECIPES:
I usually don't put up pickles. But I do make "Sun Pickles". These taste like kosher dills and will keep in the fridge for months(if they last that long lol). You need three smaller pickles(enough to fill a regular sized pickle jar). Cut the ends off, slice in half but not all the way through, then slice again from the opposite end(so there will be four spears). Place them in the jar, making sure they fit all the way down. Add a few cloves of garlic, about an inch of vinegar, fill to within half inch of top with plain water. I also add fresh dill and a piece of white bread on top(helps them to ferment). Usually I put them outside in the sun for two days(with the current heat wave it may not take that long). Before putting them in the fridge, remove bread and throw it away.

I've made this type of pickle years ago in a crock. This is an old recipe, one of my mom's.The only difference was I used bread dough instead of bread. These are very good, you are right they are just like Kosher dills. Thanks for sharing!
