Used to be Juicy 'Taters ...... you just peeled and thin sliced a big saucepan full of 'taters. Fill the pan with water and bring to boil. Dump in a big spoonful of bacon grease, salt (lots of salt) and pepper. Boil until the 'taters are falling apart and the 'juice' is starting to get thick. Spoon over a plateful of bread slices. Use quarters of onions as the condiment.

I grew up with Juicy Taters and Juicy Beans. I think that today's comfort food is anything starchy.
I can't wait to get recipes.

Oh my, there are so many.....Mac n cheese, chicken tetrazinni, Ditalini, goulash, and homemade soups are just a few of mine!!

I think most of mine involve cheese.
I love Mac-N-Cheese. We used to have it, fish sticks, or pancakes every Friday.
My Mom and Grandma used to add a bit of dry mustard in the sauce. That is the way I do it and my Grandson now always asks if I have added the "secret ingredient". My Mom's Grilled Cheese sandwiches were the "bestest in the whole world"! The "secret" there is buttering both sides of both pieces of bread before putting them on the griddle of in the fry pan.
The other 2 favorites that I remember my Mom's Beef Stroganoff and my Dad's Beef Barley soup. The Beef Stroganoff is the recipe found in the Betty Crocker Cookbook, the soup is lost.
Once in a while as a "treat" my Dad would make "Grinders" but all it would have on them is hard salami, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, shredded cabbage and an oil and vinegar dressing sprinkled over it. These were my favorite Saturday Dinner sandwiches, maybe because we did not have them very often.

Funny how the things that comfort us are often the most simple.

There are several comfort foods; but I think Pasta many diferent ways would probably be my first choice.

Fried chicken, chili, scalloped potatoes and ham, pasta, and many others.
Can't have my comfort foods now because I have to lose weight every
week now, because I joined Tops Club. After reading all this comfort
food, I really want some.
