I like brie in filo cups

Mary...

I have a recipe where you wrap brie in a pastry type dough and bake it.  Now I also brown sausage and crumble,  then put the crumbled sausage in the filo cups and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and bake.  Those are yummy too!  You really can do a lot with filo cups!

Roasted garlic:Simply roast garlic and serve on a toasted  buttered French baguette that you have sliced on the diagonal :.      Pre heat oven to 375 Buy several heads of garlic I make one for every person being served, slice the top of the head of garlic off.In an oven proof dish lined with foil place the heads of garlic sprinkle with a little bit of olive oil and seal the garlic in the foil Bake for 1 hr and 15 minutes.allow to cool down a bit. While the garlic cools you can toast the baguette. You can even do the baguette brushed with olive oil on the out door grill if your party is outdoors.Serve a head of garlic to everyone along with the toasted baguette.Instruct your guest to separate the cloves of garlic they will pull a part easily just squeeze a clove of garlic on the baguette,it will squeeze out like a paste,it's very mild and delicious. This can aso be served with crackers. Some times the simplest things taste the best when enjoyed with people we love and care about.Enjoy

Hi Nancy, You're welcome ,yes they are related, along with leeks, scallions, scallotts, chives and ramps.Ramps are like mini leeks and they are expensive in the gourmet stores. However they grow wild in our metro parks. We have a friend who hosts a ramp party every year.Everything he and his wife prepare are made with ramp. They have a combination flavor of both onion and garlic. They are in the lily family.

Thanks Susan, you can also put out a nice crusty bread with some good olive oil, extra virgin and sprinkle some Italian spices on the oil and dip the bread into the spices and oil.I love this. They even sell the dipping spices in some of the grocery stores.I love the taste of foods that are not masked with a lot of other things. My son will eat an entire loaf of bread like this. LOL

I have been thinking about this since this first came up.  I can not narrow it down.  I like all appetizers.  It gives you a chance to try a lot of new and different things without filling you up with a full meal.  Most of the time it is a variety of appetizers, sometimes made by several people so it gives you a chance to trade recipes and ideas.  Just the happy occasion of standing around having appetizers is enough to put one in a great mood.

I was supposed to come back with my appetizer recipe.  I haven't forgotten.  It has been hectic.  My husband has had some rough days with the MS and the hives.  Sorry about not getting back right away.

One of the requested appetizers is:  OLIVE-CHEESE BALLS

2 cups shredded sharp natural Cheddar cheese (about 8 oz.)
l-1/4 cups all purpose flour*
1/2 cup butter or margarine melted
About 36 small pimiento stuffed olives, drained

*Do not use self-rising flour in this recipe

Mix cheese and flour; mix in margarine.(Work dough with hands if it seems dry.)  Mold 1 teaspoon dough around each olive; shape into a ball.  Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Cover and refrigerate at least one hour.  Heat oven to 400 degrees.  Bake until set, 15 to 20 minutes.  Makes 3 to 4 dozen appetizers.
