Usually I use waxed paper to line the pan when making fudge.  Today when I made my fudge I used foil and it was easier to get it out of the pan than with the waxed paper.  Have never used parchment for fudge, just for cookies.  Hope this helps.

I want to add to my "buttered foil" ........ I tear the foil so it's a couple inches too long - so it hangs over the edges of the pan.  Then, when it hardens it's very easy to lift out of the pan.  Then it's fast and easy to cut.

I use a disposable foil pan and the fudge just peels off.  Plus no pan to clean up!!

you should use overlapped foil        and be sure to remove it from the pan before cutting pieces

and see my tip in beginners advice about fitting the foil over the back-side of pan before putting it in the pan
it fits better

also others have given tips on that thread that might be of help

I use parchment paper.  I cut the paper about 2 inches longer than the the length of the pan plus the sides. (For a 9 inch square pan with 2 inch sides the paper would be cut at least 15 inches long.)
Once the fudge sets up lift the two over hanging pieces of paper and the fudge will lift right out.  The parchment paper will peel right off the fudge and then the fudge can be cut.
