One of my downfalls is that I just cannot bake pies....they never taste like they should....the crust is always soggy.....sometimes the crust is too brown......what do I do.....I ask my daughter to bake her Dad a pie!!!  She is an amazing pie baker.  Works for me!!!

Darla,
Happy to hear about your daughter's wonderful pies. How did she learn to make them so well?

Purchase a frozen pie crust Pet or Mrs Smith. You could also use a graham cracker crust..

GRANA  here; For eating "out of hand"I prefer Granny Smith or empire; for baking: Rome beauty; empire& gala are pretty good ( allpurpose) too.Macs or applesauce w/ a GrannySmith added for tartness

ood price. Mutsu is enjoyed as a dessert apple, baking apple including apple sauce or cider apple. What is apple of choice?

Evidently she was paying more attention to my Mother than I was.....my Mother was a great cook/baker/Mother/Grandmother.  It seems I was able to channel her cooking methods, as my husband says I am the best cook on this Earth.  (I think he goes overboard on that!!)  Perhaps I should just pay attention to my daughter now, and see if I can ever be a pie baker!

I have done that (too) many times!  It's just not the same!  I'm just going to try and learn what my Mother was trying to teach me.  Evidently I didn't pay enough attention to her.  I was young then, and probably had much more on my mind than pie baking.

Oh Renee - thank you - that sounds good.... very good.   Do you think I could bake this in a bundt cake pan instead of making 3 layers?

Not sure about this recipe, but I don't see why not bake it in a bundt pan.  I bake my Jewish Apple Cake in a bundt pan and it turns out well.  Just be sure and spray the pan into all the indented areas of the pan.
